What Is Importance Of Teacher's Day

Is there anyone who doesn't have a favorite teacher? Why do you think he is your favorite teacher? These Teachers' Day article will highlight the qualities that make a teacher and the reasons why teachers should be respected, loved and honored every day, especially on Teachers' Day.

The history behind teachers day

Since time immemorial, teachers have been recognized all over the world for their selfless service. They were considered the builders of the nation. They care for children from five or six years old to 18 to 20 years old. As they say, a child's formative years determine what a person will grow up to be, and that is mostly in the hands of their teachers.

It would be wrong not to express our gratitude for such dedication of the teachers. In order to commend teachers for their achievements and service, UNESCO started the tradition of celebrating Teachers' Day around the world in October 1994. However, in India, Teachers' Day is celebrated on September 5 every year in honor of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a scholar, teacher and politician, for his exemplary contribution in the field of education.

The day we remember our dearest teachers

A teacher's influence on an individual goes beyond the classroom. Teachers go to great lengths to understand and relate to their students wholeheartedly. They take great care in shaping the character of their students, helping them to grow into compassionate and socially responsible individuals. Teachers' Day is an opportunity for us to remember our dear teachers and be grateful to them for the role they play in our lives.

A teacher is the building block on which a society is built. The responsibility of teachers is enormous as they do the job of molding intellectual and creative minds that will prove to be the future of society. In the opinion of Dr. Radhakrishnan,  "Teachers should be the best brains in the country". Celebrated in his honor, Teachers' Day becomes a day to remember, appreciate, applaud and thank our teachers for providing us with intellectual and moral guidance and support.

No matter how old we are, there are some teachers with whom we would love to share the progress we have made in life, some who understand and trust us more than our parents, some we would run to no matter what when and where we see them and some who become great friends in addition to being great teachers. Teachers' Day is an opportunity to let these teachers know how much of an impact they have on our lives. Sometimes it's just another opportunity; it is not necessary that you have to wait until teacher's day to show your gratitude to them for their constant love and support.

Despite all of this being the present, a time when teachers are disrespected and overlooked for the hard work they put into educating and empowering students, such a day is absolutely necessary. It is painful to see teachers being blamed for various reasons, sometimes through no fault of their own. In such an environment, teachers' day can be a day when teachers re-evaluate their role and responsibilities as teachers and students understand the importance of having teachers who truly care about them.

Teacher's Day celebration

In academic institutions, among the various events that are celebrated every year, Teachers' Day is considered a significant event. It is the one day in the entire academic year when teachers feel special and valued.

On Teachers' Day, students organize cultural performances and conduct plays for teachers. The institution, on the other hand, provides a special lunch or refreshments and mementos as a token of appreciation for the invaluable service they provide.

However, the scenario of education has changed drastically from the time when teachers used to evaluate students for their performance to know where students are asked to fill questionnaires to evaluate teachers. This is good if it is constructive and helps to improve both teachers and students. This system, on the other hand, risks the job security of teachers through no fault of theirs. It's a shame that a teacher would most likely lose their job if they can't please the kids and their parents. Teachers have become almost puppets in the hands of students and management. In such a situation, teacher's day could turn out to be the only good day in a teacher's life. Be that as it may, every teacher deserves recognition, and a day like Teachers' Day would be the perfect opportunity to do so.
