IELTS (International English Language Test System) stands in the way of those who wish to go abroad for study or work and until it is cleared, the dream cannot be fulfilled.
However, the question is what is it and how can it be passed.

It is a test administered to people who want to move to a Western country and is considered to be a measure of the English proficiency of expats from any part of the world.
The first IELTS test in the world was conducted in 1989 by Cambridge University, and so far millions of people have taken this test.
Importance
It is the main means of getting any important degree, scholarship or job from foreign countries. It is a language proficiency certificate for more than 106 countries including the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada and the United States.
Differences between IELTS, TOEFL and STEP
There is no major difference between these three and shows superiority over English and is recognized in all countries of the world.
IELTS is organized by the UK while STEP is by the USA, and it is also related to English, but it is recognized exclusively in Saudi Arabia but not recognized at university level.
Types of IELTS
It has two types with different conditions.
Academic test
It is for those students who want to get admission abroad or who want to get a scholarship.
General IELTS
This is for people who want to move to another country or get a job. The general test is easier than the academic test, especially in English reading and writing, and does not require as difficult a language as the academic test.
UKVI
It is not a type of test, but it definitely has a feature and is part of both academic and general.
Admission to the UK Academic Test or General cannot be entered unless it includes the UK VI feature. This feature does not change the content of the test, but adds some security restrictions.
Test steps
It consists of four stages which include listening, reading, writing and speaking and each section has separate marks. Listening has 40 marks. The reading phase consists of 40 questions, which are further divided into three sections. Each section has 13 questions, while the writing section has two questions.
Similarly, the discussion section has around 14 questions.
Test procedure
This test is conducted by the British Council or IDP Center.
For this one can apply to their websites or headquarter, after which a confirmation message is received which mentions the date.
It can be taken either by computer at the test center or on paper.
One stage is limited to writing, listening, reading and writing, while the speaking test can be taken in the second stage on the same day or the next day.
Duration of Test
The duration of the test is two hours and 45 minutes including 30 minutes for the listening test, it has four stages and each stage has 10 questions.
The duration of the reading test is 60 minutes and it has three phases.
Similarly, the writing test is of 60 minutes or one hour duration and has two phases.
The duration of the speaking test is 15 minutes and it has three stages.
Computerized or paper test
This test can be taken in two ways, including computer based test as well as paper based test.
Score
Its score ranges from zero to nine, and your test result will be in between. There is no pass or fail in it, but the score has its own importance.
When can it be given again?
In the past, a 90-day gap was required for detesters, but this was abolished in 2006 and retests can now be taken anytime, anywhere.
Result time
The duration of the results depends on the type of test. If the test is taken on paper, the result will be available between one and two weeks, but if it is taken on the computer, then it will take four to seven days. I do not include holidays.
Something to remember
It has often been observed that IELTS test takers are better at English reading and writing, but weaker in speaking. This is due to lack of practice. So try to speak English as much as possible without the fear that someone will laugh at you.
