The French Philosopher Autoine Destull de Tracy used the word ideology as the “Science of Ideas” To Karl Marx, ideology means “The ideas of the Junta” Karl Mannheim defined it as “the conservative, self-seeking and biased views of the dominant class in society”
A political ideology is a system of beliefs that explain and justifies a preferred political order. The ideologies contain a set of proposals about human nature and society. An ideology offers an interpretation of the past, an explanation of the present, and a future vision.
HOW DOES IDEOLOGY EMERGE?
Ideologies often reflect the way of thinking of a nation.
Ideologies are propagated as a systematic program of logical ideas.
Ideologies tend to arise in times of crisis and social stress.
Ideology emerges when people feel strongly that they are being mistreated under an existing order.
IMPORTANCE OF AN IDEOLOGY
Ideology is a motivating force for a nation.
It provides the cement binding base to the scattered groups in a society.
Ideologies give birth to new cultures and civilizations.
IDEOLOGY OF PAKISTAN
Pakistan's ideology is based on the ideas of the Islamic System.
The famous slogan “Pakistan Ka Matlab Kiaya, La Ilaha Illallah” became the basis of the Ideology of Pakistan.
TWO NATION CONCEPTS
Pakistan's ideology was based on the fact that the Muslims were a separate nation having their own culture, civilization, customs, literature, religion, and way of life.
Pakistan Ideology was established on the Two-Nation Theory which meant that Hindus and Muslims were two separate nations.
Sir Syed Ahmed Khan used the word Two-Nation for Hindus and Muslims after being convinced of the Hindu and Congress hatred for the Muslims. Muslims were a separate nation who always adhered to their religious identity.
Pakistan Ideology means that Pakistan should be a State where the Muslims should have an opportunity to live according to their faith and creed based on Islamic principles.
IDEOLOGY OF PAKISTAN & ALLAMA IQBAL
Allama Iqbal considered Islam as a complete code of life. He said Muslims of India would ultimately have to establish a separate homeland as they cannot live with Hindus in United India.
Allama Iqbal openly negated the concept of one-Nation of India. He considered the establishment of Pakistan essential for the restoration of the national and religious identity of the Muslims. He said that Islam guides mankind in every aspect of life.
He based the foundation of the homeland on religion, which later became Pakistan's ideology and basis. Allama Iqbal expressed the Muslim sentiments and ideas in true spirit by defining them as a separate nation with a distinct national image.
Allama Iqbal infused a spirit of nationalism amongst Muslims with his stirring and thought-provoking poetry. He preached an idea of Muslim nationalism based on Islamic unity and brotherhood. Allam Iqbal’s writings, poetry, and sayings kindled a new light and aroused a sense of respect, self-realization, and determination in the Muslim masses.
