The doctor usually first asks the patient to do a thyroxine (T4) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) test and, after seeing the report, takes measures for the patient's illness.

 

Sometimes hypothyroidism can become severe and the patient's thyroxine dosage may change over time, but if the patient takes the medicine regularly and maintains the thyroxine levels in the body as advised by the doctor, the symptoms will gradually disappear.

• Selenium helps keep thyroid hormones active. Therefore, it is necessary to add selenium-rich foods (such as tuna fish, eggs, and lemons) to the daily diet.
