I love almost everything in winter. I love the cold season. I love the snow that covers the ground and branches, and I love taking every opportunity to go out and enjoy the unique times of the year. Nothing beats going on a long winter hike or spending hours outside making a snowman with kids and friends. Sometimes cold air reaches me as much as I like to be outside, and I just need a break. My favorite way to warm up after a cold afternoon is to drink hot chocolate.
I don't know what I like about hot chocolate. It seems to me the perfect drink: warm, creamy, milky, full of chocolate. What do you dislike about it? I have friends who like latte and tea. You will never see me dishonest with my favorite drink. Whether at home, at work, or at a local coffee shop with friends, I always choose hot chocolate.
I think one of the reasons I love hot chocolate is that it reminds me of my childhood. After a long day outside, or if you're lucky, after a completely normal winter school day, I have a lot of memories of my mom making hot chocolate for no reason. Once her mom had mixed the ingredients (anything) properly, she had to put marshmallows on top of it. I loved that part. I was able to decorate a mug of hot chocolate with as small a mallow plant as I wanted. After experimenting with multiple mallow plants in hot chocolate, I remember finally settling on 13 as the optimal number for a mug. Unlike most people, the number 13 was a magical number for me. At least 13 marshmallows made my hot chocolate even better, so it felt magical. I grew up, but I still loved hot chocolate. After a long day at work, I love to go home and stop by the kitchen to make the perfect mug. I have a special recipe that I've been using for several years, and it's just getting better and better. My friends and family asked me to share it, but I can't share it myself. If you like hot chocolate as much as I do, I'll tell you the secret. Until then, leave her own recipes to herself and gladly invite her to her good chat about her now-famous hot chocolate. I think I'm even trying to get them to put in their own marshmallows and find their own perfect taste.
