What is genome Omicron variant & why it is different from Corona Virus?
The new variant of Corona, spreading rapidly in the world, has now knocked in India as well. To understand Genome Sequencing well, you have to understand what is a gene. Understand in simple language, genes are actually the reason for our biological characteristics. Apart from this, genome sequencing has also been done for the treatment of many infectious diseases like malaria, dengue, HIV, coronavirus, Ebola, SARS etc., This gives an idea of what type of disease a person has or may have.

As we have been hearing for a long time that after entering a person's body, the coronavirus is continuously mutating that is changing its form. Sometimes it mutates and becomes more dangerous than before, and sometimes less. Now the question must be coming in your mind that what does genome sequencing have to do with it. So the answer is- yes, it has to do with it. Suppose if the cases of corona suddenly start increasing in an area, then samples are collected from that area. Later it is sequenced, and it is ascertained whether there has been any change in the sample of this area or not. And is it because of this change that the cases of corona are increasing in this area? Thus, by genome sequencing, it is known whether the increase in corona cases in a region is due to a new variant or an old one.
