What is Feedback Management

Conversations can be a tricky business. Sometimes, at best, decoding what is said by what is meant is difficult. However, communication is a necessary tool in today's world. And it's not just talking that can be difficult, but trying to interpret body language and other language barriers are just some of the obstacles preventing effective communication. It was often the case where one party communicated completely poorly to another due to a misunderstanding between the parties.

Most people learn to speak when they are relatively young. Gain verbal skills as they get older and engage in conversations with more and more people throughout their lives. And while most people will spend their time talking constantly, some will never truly learn to listen, which is the king of effective communication. It may seem strange to hear such a thing, but it is true. While it may not seem true to the individual who has just spent the last two moments listening to some co-worker babbling about his fantasy football choices, it is.

Without proper listening, voice communication would just be a lot of annoying sounds. Unfortunately, most of the time we spend listening is actually just the process of physically absorbing the annoying squeaks and squeaks coming out of someone.

The problem with listening is that it's so difficult. It is even more difficult to actively listen. What is needed to actively listen is harder to learn than it was to learn to speak when we were young. It is not something that can be absorbed simply by interacting with other humans. Active listening requires the receiver in the conversation to look for words among the speakers and try to understand what the speaker is really saying. Fishing through emotion, defence, cultural differences and jargon.

If it's that hard to hear, it must be extremely difficult to get someone to pay attention to what you say

One of the most important elements of communication is creating effective feedback. Whether picking up non-verbal cues or audible feedback is important. Knowing your message is understood correctly is vital. Feedback, when done by the sender, allows the speaker the ability to make sure the listener understands what he is trying to be communicated. Some ways to use feedback is through closed-ended questions like "do you understand what I'm saying?" or "did it make sense?" Another effective tactic is to use an open question and through this method, the listener will hopefully summarize the message you are trying to convey and, in turn, expose any misunderstandings between the two of you. Using a question like "what do you think about what I just told you?" or "what are your feelings on the subject?" are effective examples of using an open question to clarify the sender and the recipient.

In the business world, feedback is even more crucial. Feedback from your employees, clients and customers plays an important role in creating and maintaining a business or institution. Make sure they understand what you are trying to say, whether through management or advertising. It is important to know that not only is your message conveyed, but it is interpreted correctly.

Once you have gained an understanding of how your information is perceived and interpreted. You will know how to go about it, cutting out those things that feedback has proven to be ineffective and replacing them with known solutions to produce the desired results.

Make sure people understand what you are trying to say. Be it marketing, the management or just everyday conversations. Through feedback, communication can be an effective tool in business and everywhere.
