Here are four reasons practical communication matters:

  • Adds value to the service you provide.
  • Create resources for the client.
  • Establishes you as an authority within your industry.
  • Has immeasurable value for your online presence.

Accessing and using digital information has become a part of our everyday life. Around 4 billion people around the world access and use the internet regularly.

So digital communication is essential. In this article I will define digital communication and how it works.

What is Digital Communication?

Communicating using digital processes is a communication technique where the thought, data and information is encoded as discreet signals.

These signals are then transferred electronically to the intended recipients.

It transfers data (digital signal or digital bitstream) over point to point or point to multipoint communications channels.

These channels could be strong media, copper wires and wireless communication channels.

The data or information is represented as an electromagnetic signal, like microwave, electrical voltage, infrared, or radio waves.

All modern businesses, institutions, and organizations depend on this system to communicate with each other.

In this mode, the source of information typically comes from a computer keyboard and flows or transfer in digital form.

Only one person is needed for this system to work. Therefore, this form of communication reduces the workforce and is the cheapest form of communication possible.

Advantages of Digital Communication

The digital communication system is more straightforward and cheaper in implementation as compared to the analog communication system.

It has become possible due to advancements in integrated circuits technology.

In digital communication, it is possible to use multiplexing to merge speech, video, and other forms of data for transmission over a common channel.

A high level of privacy can be obtained in digital communication using data encryption techniques.

In digital communication channel encoding is used. Because of this encoding, there is less noise accumulation from the repeater to the repeater, in the case of long-distance communication.

It is possible to perform many operations on digital signals, like digital signal processing, data compression, image processing, etc.

It is easy to delete and correct errors in digital communication.
