Diabetes means:
Diabetes is a disease when, our blood glucose also called blood sugar is too high. Blood glucose is a main source of energy, which comes from the food we eat on regular meals.
Similar names of diabetes:
Most of the time people call diabetes as “a touch of sugar” or “borderline diabetes”. These terms tell us that someone does not really have diabetes or has a less serious care, but every case of diabetes is serious.
What, is Insulin?:
Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas which helps glucose from food, which gets into our cells to be used for energy.
Types of diabetes:
There are two types of diabetes and also gestational diabetes. They are,
Type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes:
If a person has type one diabetes means their body won't make insulin which means the immune system attacks and destroys the cells in their pancreas that makes Insulin.
Type 1 diabetes increases if a parent or sibling has type 1 diabetes.
Some people have autoantibodies, it's increased risk of developing type 1 diabetes.
Nowadays, types one diabetes is usually diagnosed in children and young adults, although it will appear at any age.
Person’s who has type one diabetes means need to take insulin each and every day in order to live and stay alive.
Another one is a type 2 diabetes. When our body does not make or use insulin well. Type two diabetes can develop at any age, even during the childhood. This type of diabetes will occur most happen in middle-aged and an older people. This one is the most common type of diabetes.
Gestational diabetes:
Gestational diabetes means, which develops in some women when they are pregnant. Most of the time, this type of diabetes will disappear after a baby is born. Most of the time, this type of diabetes are diagnosed during pregnancy is actually called as type two diabetes.
Another types:
Another types which are less common types include monogenism diabetes, which is an inherited form of diabetes and cystic fibrosis related diabetes.
Most people, 1 in 4 of them, did not know that they have the disease. Diabetes affects 1 in 4 people over the age of 65. About 90-95 percent of cases in adults are type two diabetes.
Most of the people are likely to develop type 2 of diabetes at the age of 45 or older who have a family history of diabetes or are overweight. Physical inactivity, race and certain health problems such as high blood pressure also affect your chance of developing type two diabetes.
People may also likely to develop type two diabetes if they have pre-diabetes or had gestational diabetes when you were pregnant.
