WHAT IS CSIR-NET?

Here we cover the whole information about CSIR – NET .basically, this exam is for chemistry students. After clearing this exam, you can become an assistant professor. JRF is also a sub-category of NET. If you are preparing for the NET  exam and you scored the marks more than cut off of NET, you are counted in the list of JRF. If you are from the science stream or any specialization student, you are eligible for this exam. This exam is conducted by GOVERNMENT two times a year. Most students have confused that CSIR –NET AND UGC-NET are the same, but this is not true. NET is a competitive exam conducted by CSIR .NET, which stands for NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST . UGC –NET is conducted for ARTS students, whereas  CSIR-NET is conducted for science students.

You can give this exam after your master's degree or at the time of MSC 1st year (minimum criteria)

 

It includes all chemistry subjects, not just PCM (physics, chemistry, maths). It includes chemical science, earth science, maths,  amplitude, analytical, basic physics, organic, and inorganic ( 11th to MSC level). It is an exam of 200 marks; not all questions are difficult; it includes 40 % basic and easy questions. But we have to learn the main science subject (PCM) equally. It includes two types of cut off as we discussed before, one for NET and 2nd for JRF. Lower cut-off will give you the chance of becoming an assistant professor in Degree colleges/ universities. If you cross the level of lower cut off you get JRF (junior research fellow); in this, you can do a Ph.D. from anywhere, and you get a package of around 35 to 40K .per month. In short, you get money from CSIR institute every month. That’s why CSIR is very popular in INDIA.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Candidates enrolled for M.Sc or having completed 10+2+3 years of graduation as on closing date of online submission of application form are also eligible to apply under the result awaiting (RA) category .B.Sc (Hons)  or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled MS- Ph.D. program with atleast 55% marks for General, 50% for (OBC, SC/ST). A person with a disability (PWD) can also apply. Bachelor's degree will be eligible for CSIR fellowship after getting enrolled/registered for Ph.D./Integrated within the validity period of 2 years. Candidates possessing only one can apply for JRF.
