What is the cold war?

 A series of tensions, confrontations, and disputes between the two superpowers, i.e., the united states of America (USA) and the union of the soviet socialist republic (USSR), is what in world politics is termed as the cold war era.

The cold war started soon after the end of the second world war in 1945.though, of serious differentiation between the two giants, the war did not escalate into a hot war and remains cold. The period between 1945-1990 is what in world politics termed the era of the cold war.

How the two power blocks of world politics emerged?

Us bombing nuclear weapons on the japaneese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in august 1945 led to the end of the second world war. but the critics have a different view on us bombing; they think that we have deliberately bombed on the japaneese cities as us was aware of the fact the japan was soon going to surrender but then to us choose to bomb on japan because of the two reasons-

first, to stop war soon to reduce fatalities of the allied and us soldiers who were losing their lives in the war. And second, to warn and limit the USSR's influence in Asia. 

One more reason is that we may want to answer the japaneese attack on our navy base of pearl harbor on December 7, 1941. Though critics have a different view, the world was sharply divided between the two superpowers with the end of the war. One was the USA, and the other was USSR, backed by their respective alliances.  The alliance led by the USA was known as western alliance as most of the west European country become part of it, and the alliance led by the USSR was known as eastern alliance as most of the east European country was part of it. The two alliances were held together with strategic agreements. The eastern alliance led by the USSR was held together with the WARSAW PACT signed in 1955. the western alliance led by the USA was held together by the NATO(North Atlantic treaty organization), consists of 12 members signed in 1949. both agreements aimed to counter each other's forces in Europe mainly and other parts of the world.

What is the Cuban missile crisis?

In April 1961, Nikita Khrushchev, the leader of the USSR, decided to convert Cuba into a Russian military base. Khrushchev was worried that the USA might invade Cuba and turn it into a capitalist country. Cuba was an ally of the USSR and received financial and diplomatic aid from USSR to protect Cuba from going into nato forces. Hand USSR placed the nuclear missiles in Cuba. The placing of the nuclear missile brought the USA first time under close range. Three weeks after the USA got aware of it us president john.f.kneedy was reluctant to do anything which would lead to a full-scale war between the two superpowers but also wanted Russia to be aware of our seriousness, so he ordered the American warships to intercept the Russian ships heading towards Cuba. The clash seems to be eminent and what is known as the Cuban missile crisis. But this did not lead to a hot war between the two superpowers.

The Cuban missile crisis in world politics is termed as the culmination of the cold war. 

The countries such as China, Russia, Korea, Poland were part of the eastern alliance. The countries such as the USA, Britain, France, Italy are part of the western alliance.

The confrontation between the two superpowers was ideological. Also, the eastern alliance represents the communist and socialist ideology, whereas the western alliance represents the capitalist and liberal ideology.

Finally, in 1990 the cold war got its end. The main reson for the end of the war was the fall of the berlin wall in 1989.
