The goal of Chandrayaan-3, a follow-up mission to Chandrayaan-2, is to show that it is possible to safely land and roam the lunar surface from start to finish. It has a configuration of Landers and Rovers. LVM3 from SDSC SHAR in Sriharikota will launch it. The lander and rover configuration will be carried to a 100 kilometer lunar orbit by the propulsion module. To investigate the spectral and Polari metric measurements of Earth from the lunar orbit, the propulsion module is equipped with the Spectro-polarimetry of Habitable Planet Earth (SHAPE) payload.
Chandra's Surface Thermophysical Experiment (ChaSTE), which measures temperature and thermal conductivity, is one of the Lander payloads. The Langmuir Probe (LP) is used to measure the fluctuations in the plasma density and the Instrument for Lunar Seismic Activity (ILSA) is used to measure the seismicity surrounding the landing site. NASA's passive Laser Retroreflector Array is supported.
2019 saw Chandrayaan-2's mission come to an end after it was unable to execute a soft landing. The five engines on the lander created a higher velocity than anticipated, which was the primary cause of the accident. In order to fix the landing place, the lander also needed to take photographs.
