Akash Anand entered the world of politics at an age of 22, in 2017.
Today Mayawati, the leader of the BSP announced her chosen successor during a meeting with party officials. Akash Anand, who happens to be her nephew will take over as the partys leader after her tenure. However Mayawati will continue to hold her position as the chief of the party for now.
Who exactly is Akash Anand?
Akash Anand, selected as Mayawatis heir is her nephew. He currently works as the coordinator for the BSP. Has played a significant role in representing the party during the recent Rajasthan assembly elections. Additionally he has actively supported BSPs causes in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana. Mayawati entrusted him with leading a delegation for planning and launching the partys election campaign that focused on addressing issues concerning Dalits, religious minorities OBCs (Other Backward Classes) and tribals.
At 22 years old in 2017 Akash Anand embarked on his journey. With an MBA degree from London under his belt he joined Mayawati on stage at a rally, in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh where he shared platforms with Akhilesh Yadav and Ajit Singh.
In 2019 Akash Anand delivered his speech in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. At that time the BSP was part of the Mahagathbandhan, a coalition opposed to both the Congress and BJP. The Mahagathbandhan was formed before the 2019 election, under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati with Ajit Singhs Rashtriya Lok Dal involved.
This year there was a change in the BSPs usual strategy as Akash Anand launched a 14 day 'Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay' Sankalp Yatra. This move indicated a repositioning of the partys strategy of the Assembly polls, in Rajasthan and next years crucial Lok Sabha polls.
Reports suggest that Mayawati has been grooming Akash Anand for term involvement. As the 28 year son of Mayawatis brother Anand Kumar, Akash Anand is actively engaged within BSP circles. On Instagram he describes himself as a " supporter of Baba Sahebs vision " standing up for education, empowerment and equality.
