Marketing your blog online can be complicated and confusing if you are working on your first one. However, for a blog marketing guru, it's really not that complicated. Anyone familiar with blog marketing online knows that it takes dedication, hard work and consistency. For someone just starting out with a marketing campaign, it can seem like a lot of work with little or no payoff to see right away. However, be aware that marketing is something you have to build. You need to work on it and continue to market your blog.
When you have a dream, you've got to grab it and never let go.
— Carol Burnett
There are many things you can do to market your blog and get it out into the world. One of the most important things is to visit other blogs that are relevant to you and leave comments. This will make your blog reach the readers of other people's blogs. And in return, it can get you new visitors and readers. While it may all seem confusing at first, after a while you get the hang of it, and it all makes sense and fits.
"There is nothing impossible to they who will try."
— Alexander the Great
Posting regularly on your blog is another way to get new readers. Who wants to read a blog that is never updated? You could? Of course not! So give your readers what they want with fresh content and give it to them often. Post daily, weekly or bi-weekly and be consistent. This way, your readers and visitors will know how often to look for a new post on your blog.
Find out where your traffic is coming from. Find out which search engines are sending people to your blog and which aren't. Find out what keywords are driving people to your blog. If you know everything is ready, use it to your advantage. Write more content on keywords that work for you and see where you, fall on the search engine pages that are sending visitors.
"Keep your face always toward the sunshine, and shadows will fall behind you."
— Walt Whitman
If someone leaves a comment on your blog, don't forget to acknowledge it. No one wants to talk to themselves, and it will only take a short moment to respond and let them know you appreciate them. Otherwise, if you have a section full of comments, and you haven't replied, chances are you won't get many anymore. Readers may even remove you from their list of blogs to frequent. Using your head and treating others as you would like to be treated is a big part of marketing.
Make friends with other bloggers. Connect with them and find out how they get so many visitors to their blog and what they do to get them interested. Exchanging ideas with other bloggers who are successful is a great idea and a good way to make friends. You can also make friends with other bloggers offline if you want. Use this to your advantage and don't just take it from the conversation, but make sure you share all your blog marketing techniques with your new-found blogging friends as well.
"You make a choice: continue living your life feeling muddled in this abyss of self-misunderstanding, or you find your identity independent of it. You draw your own box."
— Duchess Meghan
If you happen to be quoting an article from another source or blog, always remember to link back to the original. It is otherwise known as plagiarism and something that is looked down upon in the marketing world. Stealing someone else's content is not a good idea, and you can't get away with it. You'll get caught if you try to say someone else's work is yours, it's not. This is not a good way to start in the world of blog marketing.
Blog marketing is a great way to earn extra money and get your blog noticed. Use the techniques above to get your blog more traffic and readers, and you'll reap the rewards in the end.
