What is Blockchain ?
A blockchain is a public, digital record of transactions, which records information in such a way as to be hard to hack or alter. A blockchain is basically a digital ledger of transactions that is replicated and distributed throughout an entire network of computer systems in the blockchain. It uses cryptography to enable every participant in a distributed network of computers to manipulate a digital ledger of transactions securely, without requiring a central authority. Once a block of data is recorded in a blockchain ledger, it is extremely hard to alter or delete. Because of this verification process, and the encryption that this distributed ledger uses, the blockchain is extremely secure, creating a record that is nearly unchangeable. Since every transaction has to be confirmed by the majority of network nodes and recorded on a distributed ledger, there is no chance for the information to be manipulated or altered. Blockchains really only enable the permissionless public ledger that is visible by computers (or nodes) in the network. Public blockchains also enable any user with the necessary computing power to take part in the approval and recording of transactions in a blockchain, acting as a node. Blockchains enable transactions on, say, Crypto to appear on public ledgers, even though accounts holding the given currency are still anonymous or semi-anonymous. A blockchain may record cryptocurrency transactions, ownership of an NFT, or smart contract. The technology behind Bitcoin and other virtual currencies, a blockchain is an open, distributed ledger capable of recording transactions between two parties effectively, in a verifiable, and permanent manner. Blockchain is defined, in its most basic terms, as a decentralized, distributed ledger technology that records a digital asset's provenance. Sometimes called distributed ledger technology (DLT), blockchain makes the history of any digital asset immutable and transparent by using decentralization and cryptographic hashing. Blockchain is the technology; more precisely, it is the technology of building a decentralized digital ledger, which allows for the exchange between several parties to occur securely and in an immutable way. The term blockchain technology is the facility in which public transaction records, aka blocks, are stored on different databases known as a machine within a network connected by peer-to-peer nodes. To function as a distributed ledger, the blockchain is usually managed by a network of peers that collectively subscribe to a protocol to communicate between nodes and verify new blocks. A blockchain is a decentralized, distributed, and usually publicly accessible digital ledger composed of records called blocks, which are used to record transactions between many computers, such that any involved block cannot be altered retroactively, without modifying all the following blocks. A majority of nodes have to validate and verify the legitimacy of the new data before the new block can be added to the blockchain ledger. Each node has its own copy of the chain, and the network must approve algorithmically every new block that is mined in order to keep the chain up-to-date, trusted, and verified. Every computer has access to this distributed ledger, and when new transactions are added to a receipt or ledger, it is verified by computers in the network. Blockchain allows for a secure way for individuals to transact with one another directly, without a middleman such as the government, banks, or other third parties. While it has been popularized by the growing usage of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology has promising applications in legal contracts, real estate sales, health records, and any other sector where the authorization and recording of a set of actions or transactions are needed. Blockchain technology could be at the heart of a number of different applications, such as cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, tracking information, and virtually any other digital process that might need tracking. Blockchain networks provide Internet users with a way to create value and verify digital information.
