Amber Fort History
If we talk about the history of Amer Fort, then Amer was a small town before the rule of Kushwaha, which was built by a small tribe name of Meena. This fort has got its name from Amber i.e. Amer, a name of Lord Shiva. However, locals say that the name is derived from the name of Goddess Durga, this city was ruled by the Kushwaha during the 11th century. Raja Man Singh built the fort in 1592 AD and for the next 150 years his successors expanded and renovated the fort. Earlier the name of this place was (Karimi Mahan) which is the oldest palace in India. The palace also houses a small temple dedicated to her patron goddess, which was built by Raja Man Singh. Even after the destruction of many old structures and the construction of many structures, even today this fort has stood very proudly, facing many obstacles.
Amber Fort Architecture
The Amer Fort is built in the traditional Hindu and Rajputana style, built of marble and red sandstone. In this fort you will find ancient hunting styles and paintings of important Rajput rulers. The Amer Fort is divided into four parts, each with its own separate entrance and courtyard. The main gate of this fort is called 'Suraj Pol' or Surya Dwar which leads to the main courtyard. Situated on the east side, this entrance gate is named Surya Dwar because of its position in relation to the rising sun. With the help of stairs in this fort, you reach towards an impressive courtyard called 'Jaleb Chowk' in the palace complex. These stairs lead to the Sitala Mata Temple. Jaleb Chowk was used by the army to re-display their war time where women could only see it through the windows.

Sukh Niwas
Situated near Diwan-i-Aam, Sukh Niwas is made of sandalwood and ivory, it is said that this place was used by kings to spend time with their queens, due to which this place is called Sukh Niwas.
Sheesh Mahal
Sheesh Mahal is one of the most prominent attractions of Amer Fort which is made up of mirrors. This hall has been constructed in such a way that only a few rays of light fill the whole hall with light. It is said that only one candle light is enough to illuminate this hall.
