1.) Can you get (catch) acne from other people? Answer: Although some types of acne contain bacterium, it is found in the hair follicles under your skin and cannot be transmitted by contact. So no, touching or kissing someone with acne will not make you acne. 2.) If both my parents have acne does it mean I will have acne? Answer: Research shows that genes play a key role in determining who develops acne. Children of parents who had acne or pimples are therefore at greater risk than others. It should be noted that like any other illness, simply because you have a family history does not guarantee that you will get it; only that you have a very good chance and then someone has no family history. 3.) Does eating or drinking certain foods cause acne? Answer: Over the years studies have suggested that everything from chocolate, candy, fried foods, sugar, drinking water, orange juice to milk can cause acne or worsening of existing acne. However, there is no scientific evidence to support any such findings. There are so many factors that cause acne to grow that it is very difficult to distinguish any single cause. So whether or not to avoid certain foods or drinks is a personal preference. If you find that your skin reacts to certain foods, do not eat or drink them. 4.) Does the dirt on my skin cause acne? Answer: Proper hygiene will help healthy skin. Dirty skin, however, will not cause acne, but anyone with acne should be extremely careful about having a good cleansing routine. Excessive washing can irritate your skin and make it more prone to infections. Bathing with a gentle cleanser will help reduce the formation of skin cells and keep your skin looking its best. So find a balance and try not to overdo it. 5.) Does stress cause acne? Answer: Depression has been shown to make acne worse, not to cause it directly. So if you suffer from acne you should be aware of how you react under stress and develop ways to help manage and keep it under control. This will not only help control your acne but also benefit your entire life. 6.) Can you have acne when you are in your teens? Answer: The simple answer is yes. In fact, most people who have never had acne in their teens can develop it in their 30's, 40's, and 50's. 7.) Does make up or sunscreen make acne worse? Answer: Some high-fat and thick products can attach to the skin follicles leading to the growth of acne. Not all products affect everyone in the same way, so while most people develop acne using one product someone else may not. If you are prone to acne you will need to be very careful what you put on your skin. Always try to use oil-free products and check with a small amount on a piece of skin for a few days before using it all the time. 8.) Will exercise affect my acne? Answer: Although it is not yet clear why this happens, vigorous exercise makes your body hot and sweat seems to make acne worse for some people. One theory is that exercise increases the production of sebum, an oil that, when overprotected, causes acne. 9.) Can the face help with acne? Answer: There is no easy way to answer this question. The facial expression is used to describe everything from a counter product you buy to a drugstore and to your own making for something done at the most expensive spa site for hundreds of dollars. The important thing is that anything that can irritate your skin can make your acne worse. 10.) Why do my superiors stop responding to my current treatment? Answer: Acne medications, like all medications, may not work as well as your body does when they are resistant. It may be necessary to use anti-acne medications to make them more effective.
