What is a Secret to Getting Yourself to Meditate

As a meditation teacher, I have heard a lot of students share their excuses why they did not meditate last week. They wanted to. They know it can be good for them. They just didn't do it. At least, not invariably.

Something always seemed to bother them: they needed more sleep, the dog needed a walk, the kids woke up, had to work late or had an early meeting, they felt very anxious, anxious, or upset ... Meditation did not seem as important as other things they had to do. However, not all their activities gave them the desired peace of mind.

Indeed, meditation is about changing your relationships with all the events, worries, and anxieties in your life. It is a daily routine such as eating, sleeping, and brushing teeth — creating a more relaxed, healthy, purposeful, and meaningful life. It is a strong habit to see the deep peace of mind that we all desire. So, what’s the secret to going from exercise to exercise?

The answer is: you have to be strong "Why?"

Where do you get your Why?

The answer may surprise you.

The secret to Physical Awareness:

Your body is not just a machine that can do all the work of your life. It is a very sensitive bio-feedback system.

Your body can tell you what is best for you to eat and how much, when you need to rest, when you need to rest and be happy, when you need to get up and move, and when you need to be alone, contact her. with others, be natural, and spend time meditating. It connects you with when, why, and how to do anything. If you pay attention.

In our case, it connects you with WHY you might want to reflect first. At least it has the power to do this — if you pay attention. How often, though, do you pause and consider the symptoms? How often do you hear what he tells you?

Why not do this?

First, we have a culture that promotes the opposite. We are encouraged to focus on the outside rather than on the inside. We are encouraged to do as much as we can. We are encouraged to collect as many products and resources as possible, data, and sensory input from the outside as much as possible.

We are encouraged to respond quickly and frustrated to take the time to take well-thought-out and sound responses. We have been placed in a state of rapid response and sound biting in the news and on social media. We are impatient with anything that takes time. We go, we go, until we are too weak to move on.

Do you feel this exhaustion?

However, are you concerned about the consequences of quitting? Are you worried that you will be left behind and left out? At some point, you may decide that you do not want to continue living this way. When you get to this point — or maybe a long time before that — take a moment to pay attention inside. Notice what all of this thinking, doing, worrying, accumulating, and motivation does to you.

Is there another option?

Meditation Creates a New Way to Be:

Meditation interrupts your thoughts and actions and gives your body an opportunity to relax deeply — something you may not even be able to do while you are asleep. Resting consciously, as you do in meditation, eases the pressure that accumulates under your awareness 24 hours ago and the years of your life so far. Slowly melts the emotional patterns that drive the hamster wheel of a non-stop work. It silences your mental conversation.

Now, if you start meditating, you may not notice this relaxing, calming, and calming effect. You may find that your mind keeps busy, your emotions collide, and your body is strong. If you have been abusive to your body because of chronic stress, the first few sessions of Physical Awareness may not be as pleasant as it used to be.

Or you may feel that you are of little value. All that thinking, doing, and forcing yourself to do things that you feel are “right” or “appropriate” to do may have a bearing on how you feel. You may no longer be in touch with your important feelings and emotions. You may feel lonely without the outside encouragement that keeps you upset.

However, discomfort, boredom, or numbness, when you deal with it honestly, directly, gently, and without judgment, as you do meditation, can alert you to how much you need to do the other way of being.

If you listen to this signal and give yourself time to sit, breathe, and pay close attention to what is happening inside — the levels of stress will begin to subside and your vital senses will awaken. As you are quiet, Physical Awareness may tell you how tired you are of the way you are doing with your health.

As you carefully listen to what your body is saying, you may find that all the things you are chasing may not be as important as they once were. You may find that you no longer want to live on a human hamster wheel for endless work, anxiety, and worry. You may be motivated to make new choices that reflect the deepest desires of your soul.

Meditation invites you to a more relaxed, healthy, purposeful, and meaningful life — and your body will tell you how important this is — if you pay attention.
