When QR codes are becoming an integral part of daily life, various things can also be scanned.
Often we know very little about what is in front of our eyes every day. Like a lot of our real-time that goes in front of three screens - smartphone, PC or TV - what is the trick in the glass panel that we can see everything in it? There is not much harm if we do not know this, miss an interesting, knowable point of science or technology. But if we don't know a little more about the QR code seen all around, like the screen, sometimes we may have to suffer a direct loss of money.
QR code is an ancient invention, but its use has increased tremendously lately. QR codes for online payments have started appearing everywhere in Panna Galla, Panipuri Khumcha, grocery stores, petrol pumps, etc. We, too, have come to appreciate its use. On the other hand, QR codes have become commonplace in newspapers and magazines, advertising hoardings, alterations, and even restaurant tables. Although this code and that payment code are basically the same, there are some differences if we don't think much about scanning its QR code to pay from a well.
What is a QR code?
QR literally means 'quick response.' We get a response in the blink of an eye rather than scanning a design made of small frames that is impossible to understand with the naked eye. Hence the name QR code. It was invented in Japan in the 18th to track parts in vehicle manufacturing. A small QR code can hold four to seven thousand characters. The QR codes were kept square so that they could be easily and quickly scanned. The scanner can scan from top to bottom and from right to left, noting it when it is scanned. Initially, manufacturing did not use QR codes exclusively except for the supply chain, but its use has expanded and increased over the past decade.
Not one, many uses of the code
We have the most experience making payments by scanning the QR code, but there are many other uses, which makes it risky. QR codes are currently the most widely used to store Internet links. This means it's about to be the most delusional time of the year, as well. An app can be downloaded directly to the phone from the App Store or other source by scanning the QR code. A PDF file can be downloaded directly. Also, any dangerous malware can be downloaded directly! It can be used to verify log-in details for an account like WhatsApp. Wi-Fi details can be stored in it to scan the code and connect to a Wi-Fi network. The QR code next to the artwork in the museum takes you to the full page about it. Abroad, the QR code has begun to be placed on the deceased's grave so that the person can be paid online tribute!
How is the code prepared?
In UPI, a separate UPI code is generated for each of our bank accounts. That app generates automatically. This code contains UPI account details, which is enough to get payment from the person scanning it, but no details like our bank account number or password are available to the scanner. Anyone can generate QR codes for other uses. That's why there are several services on the Internet. (There is also a paid service that generates codes with special designs and tracks their use). Now Google has made this task easier. When you are on any page in Chrome browser on PC, when you place the cursor in the address bar, you will see a sign of QR code on the right side. The QR code with 1 link on the page can be downloaded by clicking on it. In Chrome browser in mobile - by clicking on the three dots, clicking on the 'Share' button gives you the option of QR code (from here, QR code can be generated as well as scanned).
Also, know the types of codes.
There are two main types of QR codes - static codes and dynamic codes. The code for UPI payments is ‘static.’ The information stored in it cannot be changed later. The person scanning such code writes the amount himself and then sends it to us. The UPI app also can generate a certain amount of QR codes for our UPI account. Your experience at the petrol pump will be that we can either scan the sticker and pay the amount ourselves, or the attendant will add the bill amount to the device in his hand and then scan the generated code and all we have to do is give his PIN. In the code for other uses, the link connected to that code may be changed in the future by logging in to the service from which the code was generated. For example, first, a fur code is generated for the URL of the homepage, and then the code can be linked to a product page on the site. This is called ‘dynamic code

How to scan?
Again, when it comes to a mobile wallet or UPI app, we can scan its UR code from that wallet or UPI app. The QR code for other uses is slightly different. Apple's iPhone has long included a QR code scanner in the camera. It was not like that in Android. We had to install separate third-party apps. Now the facility to scan the code in different ways has also been added to Android. No third-party app is required. Any QR code can be scanned by clicking on the ‘Google Lens’ icon to the right of the search box in the Google search app. By pressing the home button of the phone for a long time, instead of activating Google Assistant, you will also see the icon of Google Lens. As mentioned earlier, the Chrome app also can scan the QR code in the 'Share' button. The advantage of scanning the code in this way is that we can see the link to which page it will take us instead of scanning the code.
Let's also know a few technical things.
The pattern of the frames found in the QR code shows the pattern of the binary code. The standard code has large squares at the three corners, so the scanner understands that whatever is between these three frames is the QR code. We want more black-and-white framed codes, but many services on the Internet also allow you to create colorful QR codes. We can also put our own company logo in the middle of the code. Most of the code is generated so that even if 90% of it is removed, the scanner will lead us to the correct link. Therefore, the logo can also be placed in many codes, occupying 90% of the entire code. Many genuine free services generate low-resolution code in JPEG format, but many services generate code in vector, PDF, and EPS formats.
