Even if you are not a $ 60 kid, you have probably enjoyed owning and wearing dye clothes. If you have ever been to a hand-painted event, you may have noticed that eye-catching dolls are full of tie-dyed dresses and home decor. You may have wondered how they managed to put together such intricate, elaborate structures in an empty cotton boat.
While a complex tire death is truly an art, you and your family can have a lot of fun at home making your own creative dye (or dye). All About Fabric
When it comes to binding, the right fabric is important. Natural yarns - like cotton or linen, take a good dye. If you stick to 100% cotton, you can't go wrong. The Secret of Dye
In fact, the dyes used to bind dyes are not the big secret. For cotton, you need to use a dye that will react well to the fabric, i.e. Procion dissolved in urea solution. You can make almost every color you can think of in just three colors: yellow, blue, and fuchsia. But, before you start dying, you need to soak your cloth in soda ash. Fun Part: Patterns
Tie-dye is all about colors and patterns. Learning to make swirls, crinkles, lines, wavy lines, hearts, clovers, and - yes - even signs of peace is a great way to incorporate everyone’s art into the family. You can learn to tie knots; twist the fabric into pancake shapes protected by rubber bands; roll up the shirt to make tubes, and tie them; and pleat fabric to make symmetrical patterns.
Applying Dye
There are at least six different ways you can apply dye to your fabric, from dipping and immersion to using compression bottles and spray bottles. Also, someone with years of experience can better teach you how to dye to get the results you want.
What Makes It Sticky
After tying your shirts or decorating, it is important to follow the necessary steps to make sure the dye responds with fiber. Then you need to repeatedly wash the fabric with a special solution so that the dyes do not mix automatically and so that the clothes stay colored.
In the end, however, the tire dye is all about fun. It could be a family trip, a fun way to spend an afternoon with friends, or a way to indulge in the hippie art within you. A good instructional DVD or video will help you learn how to dye, and it will send you well on your way to creating beautiful, vibrant designs.
