"It will take about a thousand million million million million years for the Earth to run into the sun, so there's no immediate cause for worry!"
-Stephen Hawking
The Science of Armageddon
Scientifically, Stephen may be right about the earth spiraling towards the sun, may he rest in peace. But, are these the only ways the world can end?
Global warming, exploiting natural resources, extinction of life forms are only a few of the many effects of human intervention in the earth's ecosystem.
Alright, I have said too much already. Really, what if the world ended in 24 hours? Would the anticipation kill us? What could you do in a day? Better yet, How much could you do in a day?
I get frantic even thinking about it. But we wouldn't want to lose our day to panic and fear. So, with a clear head, we should put our right foot forward into a day that is full of possibilities.
The Bucket-list
I guess we would spend the last day with our loved ones, the ones who truly matter. Some of you might even have a bucket list of things to do before you go, while kicking yourself for writing "travel the world" in there.
We are all simple people, filled with hopes, dreams, and desires. The definition of a successful life is often defined by the people irrelevant to us. As a result, we don't get to live life the way we want to.
So, we could spend the last day doing things we always wanted to but never did, because the "irrelevant" consider it taboo. And I think you should, obviously, narrow it down to the things that you can cover in a day and proceed with courage. What's the worst that could happen, apart from the world ending in a day.
Forgive And Forget
We all have regrets, heavy or light. That fight you had with a friend or kin made you distant. That bad choice you made put you through tough times. That toxic relationship with someone is making you miserable, yet hard to break off.
I think we all can comprehend the things I mentioned. And just thinking about them is making you swallow a lump, isn't it? Well, now that you know you're not alone, I think it's time to forgive.
Forgive people that caused you pain, hurt, and insult. Most importantly, forgive yourself for causing those things to others or to yourself. Then you can be truly at peace with yourself, after all, it is the end of the world.
Twenty Four Hours
Twenty-four hours do seem to be that long a time, especially when you know the world is ending. But you can only know how much you could accomplish in a day when you put your heart and mind into it.
You don't realize how precious another day really is unless you have thought, "What if there wasn't another day?". What if the world ended in 24 hours?.
I believe that's the kind of motivation you start your day with. Thus, you strive to get the best out of that day and have a lot more fun while doing it. Simply put, do what you love and love what you do.
And when you're not having the best of days, just tell yourself, "It's not the end of the world". There is always another day to redeem and shine brighter than the last. I wish you good luck and good health.
