What If LOKI was a JEDI? Transform LOKI INTO JEDI
last night I was scrolling through youtube and came across this pretty cool video where someone slapped a lightsaber onto a random clip of the movie kong, and honestly, that looked pretty cool because you know lightsabers, and that got me thinking, what if we take the new movie trailer of the Loki series and make it look with some VFX like it's actually star wars this is going to be a huge project, so we made this custom setup right here so we can brainstorm with the entire team everybody can give us input on which shot we need to adjust or which shot we are going to use so let's brainstorm we got a big meeting today and jill made
himself very cozy look at that i think the biggest storm is jordy's hair we got some really cool idea from our brainstorm but first of all we need to re-cut the trailer because a two-minute trailer is way too long if we want to finish all the shots in time and we have to do a lot of post-production like renzo just said this is a huge project and there's a good chance this project will get messy we have to alter a lot of shots and unfortunately with this magnitude of project we could lose control now i'm a man who loves to keep things organized and have the perfect solution for this project milanote our sponsor for today millernote is an easy to use tool for organizing your ideas and creative projects into freeform visual ports i've put every shot that we are going to use and alter in a storyboard now because the whole team is working on this i also added to-do lists to every shot and i assign desks to certain persons so that everybody perfectly knows what needs to be done now besides being super organized you can also add comments and notes to your storyboard to make our workflow easier and faster
For example, we found a shot of jar pins, musical chat, and pinks that would perfectly fit in the Loki trailer; well, we just placed the shot of the scene and a link in our board this way, the whole team will know which scenes to work with so guys if you're looking for a flexible tool to organize your creative projects go check out Milano visually it's completely free for an unlimited time. I would definitely be altering is where you can see Loki falling in some office where I'll be changing two things. The first one is the cat with baby Yoda and the second one is the clerk with jar binks, which shouldn't be too hard. I'll rotoscope baby Yoda out, then make a clean plate, so the cat disappears, and we can place baby Yoda.
Back in that shot, and after that, I have to do some basic compositing like color grading the shot and adding some shadows so everything blends together nicely, and then for jar binks, it should be the same. I'm in charge of the sound design because we can't use the original music nor sound because of a copyright issue, and also, we've caught up on the trailer, so none of the soundscapes makes sense anymore, so that is why we're just going to strip.
everything we're going to place new music and new sound effect under our edits my microphone wasn't on
ah, that really hurt; oh yeah no, it's going to be baby Yolo Yoda; that's right, it's not the cat; what does Yoda baby Yoda make as a sound? You know it's nice to sit here in this office; there's nobody here, so that's why I can record the
sounds on my desk as I edit them live; it's great; that reminds me I have to put the intern to work; it doesn't drain
inventory is significant; the old jokes aside, guys cassis actually working on the lightsaber effects in the trailer that
we're making
he's doing a great job; he first went ahead and tracked the motion of the actors inside of the shots; that way, we could use that tracking data to pinpoint a lightsaber effect to it now that lightsaber effect is actually a free
plugin from video code pilot install it, and it's ready to use the most time-consuming part of whole this project is searching for the right shot because we have to match two shots we have to match the Loki shot which has its own lighting his own camera perspective and we have to match those with star wars shots which also have their own lighting and perspective angles from the camera so that is the hardest part of this whole project searching for the two perfect shots which we can blend perfectly together so yeah we have to search and search some more and even search some more
so yeah
let's search; it is super hectic at the cine com office today. Look at that everyone is working Yannick Lorenzo even
teemo we should be doing behind the scenes, and Kaz the intern, as we're trying to find characters and scenes from the real star wars films, we can't really find the right perspective for every shot; that is why we're going to shoot some of those assets ourselves right now using a green screen we even have star wars costumes don't do it Loki now because we have complete freedom while shooting we can really match the light of the Loki scene with our own scene making it perfect to composite together yeah like that oh no my hands the entire edit is nearly done Yannick is right now masking the last shot I believe, but also the sound design is almost done there's one last thing that I want to do, and that is the voiceover of Darth Vader now to make it myself easy I actually found an app in the app store uh which can do that for me so I can select titan to join the dark side Loki and we're done Loki has joined the star wars universe enjoy guys I know what this place is
Welcome to star wars. I don't belong here we're looking for someone smart I am smart okay what's the square root of two too late get out fine here please this is absurd no sir here sign this as well why me because I'm your father you can't save this your last movie sucks. While cassis is folding up the green screen, I hope that you've enjoyed the trailer. I think it looks way better now, Loki in star wars. It's awesome thank you for the support and as always, stay creative.
