Chris Benoit was a great Canadian wrestler, popular for his unique moves. During his 22-year career, he worked in the World Wrestling Federation/World Wrestling Entertainment (WWF/WWE), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and Extreme Championship Wrestling in America, as well as New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) in Japan.In WWE, he was a two-time world champion and a one-time world heavyweight champion.Although he had also won the 2004 Royal Rumble, joining Shawn Michaels and preceding Edge as one of the three men to win a Royal Rumble. On the night of his death, Benoit was booked for a match for his third world championship.

Chris was born in 1967 in Canada. When he was turned out at 12 years old, he got interested in wrestling after watching wrestling matches. After giving divorce to his first wife, Martina, he was married to Nancy, who was also a professional wrestler. Nancy had also filed for divorce as she claimed that Benoit was physically abusing her, but she took back all the charges after some time, and that was her biggest mistake of her life. On June 24, 2007, WWE made a call to police authorities and requested that they go to Benoit's home in Fayetteville, Georgia, US to assure them that everything was all right as he had been absent for many days at WWE. Finally, police reached his home and first saw Nancy's dead body wrapped in a towel. After searching a few times, they found Chris Benoit's seven-year-old son's dead body, and a Bible book was also found near them. Police found Benoit's dead body hanging down from a pullout machine as he hanged himself, and a Bible was found near him too, along with an empty wine bottle. After the news went viral, the entire WWE fan base was shocked and went numb. In their postmortem report, the truth came out. First, Benoit gave a drug to his son to get him unconscious, and then he strangled him till his death. Then, he killed his wife when she was in her senses. But the horrible thing is that there were different kinds of drugs and medicines found in his body, and he had also suffered severe head injuries. It was stated in a report that Chris Benoit's brain was like that of an 85-year old Alzheimer's patient, while at that time he was 40 years old. And many experts believe this, too, that this is the reason behind his double murder and suicide. After the tragedy, Benoit's name was erased from the entire WWE Universe.

Benoit used to suffer from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, which was caused by the immense shots he had suffered in the back of his head.

He was a good friend of the late Eddie Guerrero, and he was broken by his death. He started living in depression and, after some time, he lost his mental control and committed double murder of his wife and son by strangling them.
