Kerala Blasters pick up their second Win of the season as they defeat league toppers Mumbai City 3 - 0.
Sahal Abdul Samad (27'), Vazquez (47'), Jorge Diaz (51') were on target as the yellow army got the better of the Islanders.
With the win on Sunday, KBFC went up on the points table to the 5th position with 9 points from six games.
While MCFC remained as the top with 15 points. And this was the 2nd time in the season that MCFC tasted defeat after their 3 - 1 loss to Hyderabad FC in their second match of the season.
Coach Ivan Vukomanovic was understandably happy with the performance of his team as he mentioned that there has been a change in the mentality of his players.
What did Ivan Vukomanovic say?
"Well, First of all, it is because of the huge work these boys have been doing since we started. Also changing the mindset of the players, wanting to win the matches, being strong and not conceding goals. These are the details that are important in matches. Tonight the boys showed great will, great motivation and great game to face the reigning champions and a team who are at the top of the table. I am so proud of the boys."
Vukomanovi was all praises for sahal abdul samad who scored the opening goal of the match with a stunning right footed first time shot.
He said, "It's been a while that Sahal Abdul Samad is working very hard. There was a period when he was spending a lot of time with the national team and missed a big part of our pre-season training sessions. But now he is getting back to shape, we have added certain things., he is a great player. He can become even better. We are happy and we will try to do more things so that he scores even more goals."
Ivan Vukomanovic expects a hard game against chennaiyin FC
Acknowledging Chennaiyin's defensive organization as Bozidar Bandovic's men have let in the least number of goals (4) among all teams, the Serbian said, "You will see that at the end of the competition, (in most cases) the team who has conceded the least goals is at the top of the table. That's why you should always consider your defensive organization.
" We faced Chennaiyin's in the pre-season and we know each other as coaches for a long time. So looking for that side, there will be no surprises tomorrow. We will try to explore certain things to win the games.
I think that we will see an opposite game from the one against Mumbai City. I expect one hard game with lots of fighting and running, and hopefully we can explore some weak points to create some chances and score some goals. It will be tough but we will do our best."
"When you have a plan and when you realise quickly in the game that your plan is working, it boosts the confidence of the players on the pitch and they believe in you even more.
" It doesn't matter who you're playing against because in this league, anybody can beat anybody. So we want to create this atmosphere in this team that we can become unbeatable and win against anybody."
