What Espresso Or Cappucino How To Add Some Oomph Into Your Cuppa

"Oomph is the complex inner feeling of that touch of power, inexplicable but real, that comes with drinking coffee"

I was a long time tea drinker and for years preferred tea to any other beverage until one day I had a new helper. At the time I was working as a dealer representative for stocks and shares, and that means in a really stressful environment, being in the trading room all the time. So taking a moment off, having a cuppa and getting back to trading and watching the best price trading screens was the perfect break anyone could have hoped for.

My new assistant was a young lady in her twenties and, it was interesting to see her making a drink.

No, she wasn't a tea drinker like me. Instead, she was a coffee fan, maybe even a coffee addict, you might say. On her first day at work, she took three packets of 3-in-1 instant coffee out of her purse—namely, instant coffee, sugar, and non-dairy creamer—and then proceeded to pour the three packets into one cup, add hot water, and make strong coffee. She wasn't done yet, as she also opened another packet of chocolate powder and sprinkled the chocolate powder over her hot coffee, creating an overwhelming aromatic scent that permeated the trading room.

That was some "oomph" in her coffee.

After three months I found myself drinking coffee and not a pure tea drinker anymore. It was a gentle conversion process, and I soon found that I really needed that coffee in the afternoon trading session.

Now that I look back, I learned a lot of techniques to add more "oomph" to my cup of coffee.

One way is to enhance the taste with some special ingredients.

My favorite ingredient is powdered ginseng. Ginseng is a traditional Chinese herb that is the root, and American ginseng is preferred over Korean or Chinese ginseng. This herb will alert you when ingested and is usually used to boost the immune system or body. You can get ginseng powder at the Natural Herb Store or in capsule form that you can empty into a cup when you need a “kick”.

Let us remind you that ginseng root powder has a somewhat bitter taste. So don't equate quantity with extra "oomph". Just add enough to get the enhanced aroma and "kick" you need.

Another way is to add "tonga Ali" root powder, which can be a little more difficult to obtain. This root comes from a native plant in Malaysia and is a well-researched herbal root with aphrodisiac properties. The natives of the tropical jungles of Malaysia use this to reinforce their "unmanliest" and prove it by having large families. Commercially, you can get a bottle of this Tonga Ali powder under the brand name "Power Root" worldwide. Just add a small pinch, and you will notice the difference in your taste and feel the subsequent well-being.

Now you can have an extra edge and a "twist" the next time you grab a coffee, whether it's an espresso or a latte.
