What does it feel like to be Pregnant?

Getting pregnant can happen in two ways. One planned and the second unplanned. When you have planned, it would be the happiest day and feeling in the world. When unplanned, you might experience mixed feelings. You would not understand if you are ready for this. Yet, it is still the happiest day in your life.

Before you even know you are pregnant, there are a few symptoms to get your doubts. First, fatigue. You will feel exhausted without even doing much in the day. You would not understand why you are feeling that way. Second, tender large and painful breasts. Few experience this even during their menstrual cycle every month. Third, nausea. Honestly, nausea starts a little later than fatigue and largened breasts. Apart from missed periods, with these two, you can go for a home test.

First Trimester-

This is the toughest trimester, I must say. There is morning sickness. For namesake, it is called morning sickness, but it stays for the entire day and night. You will feel relieved and can escape from it only when you are sleeping. Feeling tired and sleepy tags along. Take a break and enjoy sleeping in.

Diet during the first trimester-

Appetite reduces drastically as nausea does not let you eat anything. Eating habits alter. You may also experience a decrease in your weight. You can have ginger lemon tea, which can ease nausea during pregnancy( recipe given below). Not to worry, as nausea will vanish in the second trimester, and you will be able to increase all the weight you want to. Generally, 10-15 Kg is the ideal weight gain for pregnancy in the full nine months. You can have more protein-rich food like dal, eggs, dry fruits. Restrict yourself to vegetarianism in the first trimester as the fetus's organs are forming, and you must be careful in what you eat. Do not have outside food, especially meat, as it should be well cooked and not cause any infections.

Ginger Lemon tea:

Recipe:

  1. Boil water
    2. Add grated ginger to boiling water
    3. Pour the liquid in a cup filtering out ginger residue
    4. Add lemon slice
    5. Add honey if you like

PS: Do not drink it too hot or too cold as extreme temperatures can worsen your chances of nausea.

Second trimester -

This is the best and honeymoon period of pregnancy, you can say. LOL. Nausea and fatigue vanish. You will feel the best and have the energy to work out and do everything you like. This is the time to eat all your favorite food. Cravings began during this period. Yet, one must watch and eat.

Second-trimester diet-

Having at least 2-3 kinds of fruits every day is important. RGY- red, green, yellow fruits are the best. Besides, vitamin C contains fruits like oranges, avocado, and guava, which are good to include in your diet. Make sure you have a vitamin C containing fruit after every meal, as vitamin C helps absorb nutrients. This is the most comfortable period when your belly is not actually too big or too small. It is just right, and you can feel the bump growing. You can feel the movements of the baby and kicks from the 5th month. This is called quickening.

Having a healthy diet, working out, and staying positive, calm, and joyful is what is needed in your second trimester.

Walking is the best exercise one can do while pregnant. You can begin walking in the second trimester around the 5th month and can continue till the end until delivery. Walk for atleast 30-40 minutes daily. Walk until you are tired. Please do not overdo it. No brisk walking-It must be slow, steady, and calm. Walking is the safest and the best workout during this phase.

Third trimester-

This is when your belly actually starts growing rapidly. The weight of the baby begins to grow. You will feel the weight of the belly from this trimester. Make sure you stay active at this time too. You must stay active for flexible and quick delivery. Essentials during your third trimester are maternity clothes ( as none of your old clothes will fit you, haha), stretch marks, oils, body butter for itchy skin ( the growing belly stretches making the skin dry and itchy). Continue having your supplements the doctor recommended. If you do not take them, the baby will take them from your body, making your body weak and depleted of vitamins. This is when you will have mixed emotions as it is very close to your baby's arrival. You might feel happy, excited, stressed, anxious, and blessed at the same time. Enjoy every bit of this journey, as each bit has its own magic and importance.
