  Heavy Rain Leads to Traffic Snarls in Guru gram

Gurugram faced prolonged power cuts and traffic jams as it was lashed with torrential rain and thunderstorm on Monday morning. Many commuters were stuck on roads and waterlogging led to traffic snarls. Several trees were uprooted during the storm. The worst affected stretches were Narsinghpur, Jhansi Crossing, Sector 29, Sector 38, Sector 50, Rajeev Chock, Sheila Mate Road, Civil Lines, Golf Course Extension Road, Vatican Chock, Sector 52, and Jalalabad Flyover. At least 2,500 police personnel were deployed at major key points to manage traffic, said Ravinder Kumar To mar, DCP (traffic).

Thunderstorm, Rain Cool Delhi; Traffic Snarls Reported in Parts of City

 Delhiites woke up to a thunderstorm and rains on Monday morning that brought a much-needed respite from the sweltering heat as the city recorded a minimum temperature of 18 degrees Celsius. Trees got uprooted in some parts of the national capital and traffic snarls were reported in various stretches, including ITO, DND and near AI IMS, on the first working day of the week. According to the weather department, this was the first moderate-intensity storm of this season. Summer is considered to start from March 1. “Normally between March and May, thunderstorms occur for 12 to 14 days. But this season saw only four to five thunderstorms and that too mostly dry ones,” the department said.
