Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan met with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Sunday to discuss China's position on Kashmir. The meeting was also attended by other high level leaders of the country.
Imran Khan is on a four-day visit to Beijing to discuss issues between the two countries, including the slowdown in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor CPE C, project and attacks on Chinese nationals working on various projects in Pakistan. Sunday was the last day of the tour. During the visit, he also attended the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Beijing.
According to the Chinese news agency Xingu, Xi Jinping gave assurances at Sunday's meeting. He told Imran Khan that China strongly supports Pakistan's defense of its independence, sovereignty and dignity and its fight against terrorism. And the two countries will work hand in hand to move the CPE C, project forward.
Meanwhile, a joint statement was issued after the visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to China. The two countries have reaffirmed their support for building a peaceful and prosperous South Asia in the common interest of all.
The statement said Pakistan briefed China on the latest situation in Jam mu and Kashmir. Speaking on the occasion, Shazam Iqbal, the host of the event, said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had blamed the judiciary for fleeing former Prime Minister NAWSA Sharif. Shazam Iqbal wants to know from Azad Umar who made the decision to allow NAWSA to go abroad for medical treatment. In response to the same question, Azad Omar told Dawn that the government was completely free to make its own decisions. The decision about NAWSA was taken only by the Prime Minister.
