However, the drugs can increase dopamine release anywhere from four to tenfold. This unnatural high almost certainly leads to depression after the high is gone. This substance is the surest way to fry the brain circuitry. Addiction makes a person sad more than it pleases. This effect will spiral downward until the person doing the drugs will seek more and more of the substance to break the cycle of depression that follows each high and so leads to addiction. Not enough sleep studies show that up to 40 percent of adults do not get the proper amount of sleep per day, and up to 71 percent of students complain of sleep disorders and sleep deprivation. Sleep is essential for a person's health. During sleep, the body repairs itself and reorganizes thoughts. Sleep deprivation contributes to a lack of coherence in brain waves. This condition often leads to depression. Sleeping during the day and staying up late also disrupts the body's natural rhythm. This can lead to a feeling of depression. Here are some ways to avoid depression. Sleep is an important part of preventing depression. Balance your life with enough rest and exercise daily. Most people need seven to eight hours of sleep per day. Have some regularity in your life. Organize your activities so that they come on expected and regular times. Your body has time to get used to the activities if you have a weekly, daily or monthly routine. This will reduce the chances of depression starting. Don't push yourself beyond your limits. Control stress and try to avoid stress if possible. If this cannot be done, try to deal with stressors in a way that minimizes the damage caused by it. Sunlight and exercise can help keep the brain functioning at a higher level. Take time to enjoy the sun and try to be active in daylight whenever possible. Stay away from alcohol and drugs. They may look attractive, but they actually create havoc in a person's life. Make it a priority to have at least one hot meal daily. Good eating habits and good health are important to stay away from depression. Have fun every day, Nothing removes the load of depression like some good old fun time. Social activities such as chatting, joining a support group sport, and other hobbies can do wonders towards healing a stressed and busy mind. Depression can be avoided, and it can be fun to do so.
