Storyline: Carrying on Miles Morales' adventures, the Spider-Society, a formidable group of diverse Spider-Man incarnations, attempt to patch time and space tears in the multiverse.
The background score (by Daniel Pemberton) and the multicolored universes that the various Spider-Man personas live in are true visual treats. It is hard to concentrate on just one thing because there is so much amazing stuff occurring on television. If one were to gaze upon the marvelous animation, which is a joyful blend of 2D, 3D, and comic book genres, and sway to the catchy beats,
or chuckle at the indiscernible remarks — I laughed so hard during Dark Garfield!
A year has passed since the events of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), and Hailee Steinfeld's character Gwen Stacy is a rock band drummer in her parallel dimension in addition to becoming Spider-Woman. Unaware that Spider-Woman is his daughter, her father, George (Shea Whigham), is a police captain who is seeking her. Gwen discovers the supervillain has come from a different reality due to a rip in space-time when the Renaissance Vulture (Jorma Taccone) attacks the Guggenheim (what a breathtaking sequence that was!).
She meets the Spider-Society, a group of Spider-People that remove wrinkles and abnormalities in order to preserve the sanctity of the multiverse. The only Spider-Man without a sense of humor, Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac), is the leader of the Spider-People. Miguel O'Hara is a vampire ninja. Jessica (Issa Rae), a formidable motorcycle rider and heavily pregnant Spider-Woman, is another member of the club.A former scientist named The Spot (Jason Schwartzman) has dots on his skin that serve as gateways to alternate universes due to an accident. All of this is taking place in Gwen's realm. The Spot takes to a life of crime after failing to find a suitable career, although he is not particularly adept at it as seen by his attempt to rob an ATM.And what about Shameik Moore's character, Miles Morales, our hero? As usual, he is running late to meet with his parents and guidance counselor. He also needs to get cakes for his father Jefferson's (Brian Tyree Henry) big promotion celebration. Like his father, Miles' mother Rio (Luna Lauren Vélez) is getting to the end of her patience as she tries to figure out what's wrong with him. Gwen enters this chaos, and Miles is eager to lend a hand after learning about the Spider-Society. In the grand scheme of things, would he be a benefit or a hindrance? Would preserving one life cause millions to be destroyed and irreversibly alter space-time?
