What BREAKING: Thalapathy Vijay's Leo audio launch cancelled, 'no political pressure' claim producers

In a shocking turn of events, the producers of Leo, starring Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay, have cancelled the much-awaited audio release event.

Earlier, the event was expected to take place on September 30 at Nehru Stadium. On Tuesday night, Seven Screen Studio, the producers, tweeted the news and cited the "overwhelming request for passes" as the reason for cancellation. "Considering overflowing passes requests & safety constraints, we have decided not to conduct the Leo Audio Launch. In respect of the fans' wishes, we will keep you engaged with frequent updates. P.S. As many would imagine, this is not due to political pressure or any other reasons," the producers tweeted.

These recent developments followed earlier denials by the producers regarding political interventions in the ground-level promotions of Leo in Tamil Nadu.

Rumours had circulated about Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin allegedly exerting political pressure on the producers and obstructing the event at Chennai's Nehru Stadium

Udhayanidhi, who also owns Red Giant Movies, faced accusations of using state influence to secure lucrative deals from the Leo producers. Seven Screen Studio swiftly responded with a clarification, refuting the rumours.

A big disappointment to fans

For fans of Vijay, the audio release events are very special. Vijay is notorious for avoiding media interactions. He hasn't given an interview or participated in a press meet for many years now. The audio release events are the only place where they get to see Vijay addressing his fans, sharing insights into his career and personal life, and inspiring them with short anecdotes.

These events have always played a pivotal role in Vijay's promotional activities, making the cancellation of the Leo audio launch a major disappointment for his fans, who were eagerly looking forward to it.

Leo, the highly anticipated mass action film which stars Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role, is gearing up for a grand theatrical release, this October. The project marks Tamil cinema's biggest crowd-puller's second collaboration with the talented filmmaker, Lokesh Kanagaraj, after the massive success of the 2021-released film, Master.

Earlier, it was confirmed that the makers of Leo are planning to conduct a star-studded audio launch event for the Thalapathy Vijay starrer, at the Nehru indoor stadium in Chennai, on September 30, Sunday. It was also confirmed that along with Vijay and director Lokesh Kanagaraj, the entire star cast and crew members of the film will attend the event. But sadly, now the much-awaited event has been canceled.

The makers of Leo recently took to the official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle of the production banner Seven Screen Studio and confirmed that the audio launch of the Thalapathy Vijay starrer has been canceled. However, the production team insisted that the decision had nothing to do with 'political pressure' as the rumor mills suggest.

"Considering overflowing passes requests & safety constraints, we have decided not to conduct the Leo Audio Launch. In respect of the fans' wishes, we will keep you engaged with frequent updates. P.S. As many would imagine, this is not due to political pressure or any other reasons," reads the official statement of Leo makers.

The fans of Thalapathy Vijay and Tamil cine-goers, who have been eagerly waiting for the Leo audio launch, and most importantly, the signature speech of the leading man, are totally disappointed with the new update. The film fanatics have been expressing their deep disappointment over the makers' decision to cancel the event, on social media. Some others, however, are extending support to Vijay, the director Lokesh Kanagaraj, and the makers, and believe that this move is clearly a part of the ongoing political powerplay.

The project, which is a part of LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe), the action movie universe created by director Lokesh Kanagaraj, reportedly stars Thalapathy Vijay in the titular role. Trisha Krishnan is playing the female lead opposite Vijay in Leo, which features Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist. The project features Arjun Sarja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Anurag Kashyap, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand, and others in the supporting roles. Anirudh Ravichander has composed songs and the original score for the movie.
