What are the uses of fenugreek seeds

Uses of fenugreek seeds :

According to four patents or patent applications, fenugreek is used in the treatment of metabolism illnessess like diabeties or it is also called as hyperglycemia. An application for patent documented the use of fenugreek fibers as blood sugar regulaters in dietary supplements. Another patent application suggested using fenugreek seed powder to combat diabetes and obesity. A food supplement with an anti-diabetic formulation that contains fenugreek seed extract was revealed in the third patent application. A dose form of 500 mg given once or twice daily, either alone or in conjunction with well-known, synthetic anti-diabetic medications like metformin and glipizide, has shown positive effects in controlling plasma glucose levels in clinical trials involving human volunteers. A newly published patent showed that a fenugreek seed-based product could decrease blood sugar and cholesterol.

Clinical research on humans generally backs up these assertions. Prior to two thowsand, four relevant studies including people with type one and type two diabetes were carried out. Participants in the initial trial had diabetes but were not insulin dependent. In twenty onediabetic patients, the addition of fifteen grams of fenugreek seed soaked in water significantly lowered postprandial glucose levels. Randomization was employed in the second research, a controlled crossover trial including fifteen diabetes patients. The treatment group (seven patients) followed a standard diet for ten days. The patients were then relocated for an additional ten days.

Administration of fenugreek seed powder has been found to significantly lower fasting blood sugar and improve the glucose tolerance test. Ten non-insulin-dependent diabetic subjects were a part of the third study's controlled crossover trial with randomization. For 15 days, five people received a diet that also included 25 g of fenugreek every day. Without a washout period, the patients were moved over for a further 15 days. The results showed that adding fenugreek to a diet improved glucose tolerance and significantly reduced the area under the plasma glucose curve. In the fourth study, 40 patients with coronary artery disease, 30 healthy volunteers, and those with non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus had a meal containing 5 g of fenugreek daily for three months.

It is highly recommended to drink fenugreek tea as it cntains methi dana, which is known for its anti-diabetic properties. If yu take 10 grams of methi dana first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, it is really effective.Fenugreek seeds that have been sprouted are not as bitter as those that have not been sprouted. They are also easier to digest and are significantly less bitter. The bitter taste of methi dana is minimized by dry roasting them. You can add them as powdered or whole seeds to your buttermilk, curd or dough.

At the end of the trial, postprandial glucose and fasting blood sugar levels were considerably lower in 20 patients with mild hyperglycemia. The alterations did not, however, differ significantly between people with severe hyperglycemia and healthy people. Diabetes patients participated in four more recent clinical trials. 19 newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients were split into the treatment and control groups in a modest double-blind, controlled research. Over the course of two months, twelve patients got one gramme of fenugreek seed hydroalcoholic extract daily, whereas the other thirteen patients were given placebo capsules.
