Fighter jets are widely regarded as the most vital aircraft in any air force. Their mission is to defend the airspace as well as to attack the adversary. Some 5th generation fighters, such as the Flanker-H, HAL AMC A, and TAI TF-X, have yet to fly. The same is true for the KAI KF-21, whose first flight is slated for mid-2022.
The sixth generation of planes will revolutionize aerial combat, but they are still in the works. We will have to wait several years until the American NGA D, Japanese F-X, European FCA S/NG F, and Tempest become operational.
With that out of the way, here are Air Time's picks for the top ten most advanced fighter jets of 2022.
Honorable mentions include the PAC JF-17 Thunder Block 3, the HAL Mark 1A, and the F-16 Block 70/72.
Although these light fighter jets are considered a low-cost choice, they are still extremely advanced.
The JF-17, developed jointly by China and Pakistan, is a light and agile replacement to the renowned MiG-21, with some F-16 DNA. The JF-17A Block III, its most recent variant, went into production in early 2021.
The HAL is India's answer to the JF-17. The most recent Mark 1A model is about to start production, and it has a new radar system, an electronic warfare suite, and a significantly enlarged armament selection. Meanwhile, the even more advanced Mark 2 is in the works.
The JF-17 and HAL are not the only possibilities for countries looking for a light, low-cost multirole aircraft. In 2021, the famous F-16 makes a reappearance. Several countries have adopted the most recent Block 70-72 model, a highly powerful and adaptable dog fighter.
All three of these planes are fantastic, but our list of the most advanced fighter jets in 2022 only has ten entries. Instead, we chose to recognize them with an honorable mention.

The Russian Flanker Su-30, Su-35, and Su-37, as well as the Chinese Shenyang J-16, are all based on the venerable Su-27 platform, with significant improvements providing them with 4.5 generation capability. Each jet comes in a variety of variations and modifications.
The Su-35S, on the other hand, could be called the pinnacle of them all. It has the most up-to-date electronics systems manufactured by Russia, as well as various fuselage upgrades. The thrust-vectoring engine nozzles, which can swivel in any direction, make the aircraft very maneuverable, so much so that it does not even require canards, a feature that became standard on older Su-30 and Su-35 types.

The D assault Raffle and Typhoon were initially developed as a single aircraft. However, France opted to divide the program and develop a different fighter for its own needs.
Surprisingly, the two planes look remarkably similar from the outside. However, the D assault Raffle has seen increased sales in recent years, and a wider choice of versions has been produced.
The F3-R is the most recent model, with numerous enhancements to its weapons and sensors.
The F4 is currently in development and will have additional enhancements to its radar and avionics. This variant will be delivered to France, the United Arab Emirates, India, and a number of other customers in the near future, while many previous variations will be upgraded.
# Boeing F-15EX Eagle II
