What are the serious obstacles America is facing Democracy by Anatol Lieven and John Hulsman

Democracy movement

The thought that the democracy can solve all troubles, is used conscious or unconscious reason to keep away from having to think about negotiating cooperation ways to a variety of disputes in the Middle East, and especially the conflict between Israel and Palestine. This world needs the readiness to face expected criticism within the United States.

Two elements to coexist peacefully with other democracies

Two elements which can uphold a general promise to coexist calmly with other democracies are that, there should be civil and legal institutions in west which can be considered as naturally associated to democracy tough in reality they might be absent from quasi-democracies all over the world. Secondly, nation should have prosperity which creates promise of democracy with the middle class and should increase the well-being among the middle class population.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt's "Four Freedoms"

Franklin Delano gave a speech in 1941 in which he specially said the term Four Freedoms, the Western allies were very inspired by this great principle during world war two. It means the freedom of worship, freedom from fear, freedom of want and freedom of expression and speech. But, these freedoms can’t guarantee democracy because freedom of fear and want can only impose by government which is concerned about its citizens with some available resources such as rules and regulation, judiciary, police and law-abiding people.

Democracy movement in Eastern Europe

America should not impose their views and their ideas as well as the information on the nation who don’t share the same beliefs, attitude moreover the values due to the fact that these ideas, views and this information could create the huge conflicts among nations.

Moreover, the idea behind the exporting the democracy is in order to decline the unfriendly as well as distant government, who actually don’t want the freedom of people, freedom of fear and freedom of worship, although in reality they want to impose their own regulations and their own rules.

Islamic countries and democracy

The field has described some of Islamic countries where the democracy was hard to implement for America such as Iraq and Syria but on the other hand there are some countries like Turkey and Indonesia who are functioning according to democracy with wide range of Muslim population.

Muslim countries are trying to come under the umbrella of democracy. Therefore, it is easy to understand that Islamic countries also can embrace democracy but, there are some other factors which stop them to do so.

Fearful people and personal security

If a person does not feel secure at his home, he would not be concerned about whether he is living in free and liberated country or in the country which is governed by other nations who came after winning in wars.

All a person need is, security of his family and himself. People usually leave the place where they don’t feel secure, and they migrate to another place where there is freedom of fear of their children and them self. No matter, that country is free or not.

“Our neighbor’s success is probably at our expense.”

My neighbor’s prosperity is probably at my expense is a wrong attitude. Because people throughout the world came from diverse and different cultures, religions, backgrounds and societies to America and thrived for mutual prosperity.

This approach is adjacent as well as closest to unethical values, so yes I could be hurt full for any democratic, self governed and independent civilization.
