What are the New achievement in the medical world!

A new medical achievement has been achieved by transplanting a genetically modified pig heart into a human.

David Bennett (57) from the United States. Bennett, who suffered from severe heart failure, did not cooperate with receiving a human heart as a transplant. Due to his poor health, doctors at the University of Maryland unanimously decided to transplant a genetically modified pig heart into him. Doctors say that the pig heart and the human heart are almost identical in appearance.

“I have to do this transplant; otherwise, I will die. These are the only options before me. This is my last chance,” Bennett agreed to the treatment.

In this situation, the genetically modified pig heart was successfully transplanted into Bennett by doctors. It is not known how many years this transplanted heart will help Bennett survive. However, doctors have said that this is considered a great achievement in transplant surgery.

Regarding the pig heart transplant, renowned surgeon Bartley Griffith said:

“In the United States, 17 people die every day without a transplant. More than 100,000 people are waiting for transplants. Therefore, with this surgery, we are taking a step forward on the path to reducing the global shortage of transplants.”

Earlier, in October 2021, a pig kidney was transplanted into a brain-dead man in New York. Doctors examined his condition for more than 2 days. In this, the doctors said that the pig heart functioned well without any hindrance to the human.
