What are the main causes for conflict?

The conflict is known to be a natural function. The conflict stage usually occurs in humans based on various factors. Different types of factors influence the level of conflict in an individual or in a family or community organization in any given situation.  

• Poor communication

Communication and conflict are interrelated. Communicating is involved in almost every activity that we do in the workplace or in society. Usually, people think they are a great communicator, yet so many conflicts happen because of poor communication. There is so much room for misunderstanding at every stage of communicating process. If communication does not take place properly, the chances of misinformation being spread in many places will increase. For example. Failure to make proper communication causes employee to make wrong assumption and believe gossip.

Be clear and conscious, listen to hear team members’ new ideas and learn about their concerns, deliver messages designed for team members, and manage nonverbal behaviors and learn to read others are some tips to avoid miscommunication. 

• Differences in personality

There are many differences between human beings, whether it be a work ethic or a social one. Any workplace unites people with different temperaments, experiences, personality traits, backgrounds, and preferences. When people with such different personality traits come together in one place, there are opportunities to bring about disagreement between them. In the absence of a healthy relationship among those different types of people will lead to conflict. 

• Clash of interests

The interests of different people or groups occasionally clash. Not everyone has the same preferences needs and desires and a different from each other. Thus, the disagreement situation between the preferences found between human beings while performing an activity in an organization or group can also lead to the creation of a conflict. That is why the preferences of the people are known to cause a state of conflict.

• Cultural differences

Cultural differences can be cited as a major reason for the emergence of social conflicts and contradictions. As far as the community is concerned, people of different religions and ethnicities are found to be living together. In a society thus found, different kinds of beliefs doctrines and cults are found among the people. Thus, the cultural differences that exist socially between races, and religions can also lead to the creation of conflict in an instance. 

• Lack of role clarification

People of a company perform various roles that are interrelated to one another. The absence of role exposition among people generates conflict. It can create role conflict. 

• Misunderstanding

Misunderstanding is also considered to be the most important reason for a conflict situation to occur. In the absence of a proper communication system regarding an issue, there will be no clarity between the shared information. In such cases, it is more likely that one person’s opinion will be misunderstood by another. This can lead to a situation of conflict between two parties or two people. 

• Lack of trust

Lack of trust is also one of the causes of conflict in the organization or society. All individuals working in a group must have mutual trust to achieve common goals of them. They need to do activities based on cooperation and support of each other. Lack of mutual trust among group members creates conflict. It generates barriers to achieving goals of the organization. 

• Limited resources
