What are the facts that you should know about WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and his wife Stella Morris?

 

The world wants to know more about WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange after his exceptional wedding with partner Stella Morris. Though the ceremony was attended by four guests, two guards, two official witnesses inside a British prison on Wednesday. 

Julian Assange was born on July 3, 1971, in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. The Australian programmer founded Wikileaks in 2006. He has been accused of releasing thousands of classified documents Through Wikileaks from an assemblage of government and corporate entities. 

 

Awards and recognition: 

He has received a Gold medal from The Sydney peace foundation in May 2011 “for exception courage and initiative in pursuit of human rights’’. This award had also been bestowed on Nelson Mandela and Dalai Lama.

The Director of the Sydney Peace Foundation, Professor Stuart has stated:

''Julian Assange’s work is in the Tom Paine Rights of Man and Danielle Ells berg Pentagon Papers tradition- challenging the old order of power in politics and in journalism. Assange has championed people’s right to know and has challenged the centuries-old tradition that governments are entitled to keep the public in a state of ignorance. In the Paine, Ells berg, and Julian  Assange cases, those in power moved quickly to silence their critics even by perverting the course of justice.''

 

The Memoir:

Julian Assange: The Unauthorized Autobiography,  was published in September 2011. In December 2010,  after signing the contract for his autobiography with Canon gate books, excited Julian stated, 'I hope this book will become one of the unifying documents of our generation. In this highly personal work, I explain our global struggle to force a new relationship between the people and their governments.' Though after reading the first draft he regretted his decision and wanted to cancel his contract, he declared 'All memoir is prostitution.' After his immense dissatisfaction, the contract stands because Julian already spent a huge amount of advance money to settle his legal bills.

 

Love Life:

Julian Assange met the love of his life, Stella Morris, in 2011. Stella has started working under him and they both started their relationship in 2015. This lovely couple has been blessed with two children.

 

Engagement and Marriage:

They announced their engagement in November 2021 and decided to tie the knot at The Belmarsh prison, southeast London where Julian is in custody. 

Though Morris is not ready to call it a prison wedding, she mentioned  "It is a declaration of love and resilience in spite of the prison walls, in spite of the political persecution, in spite of the arbitrary detention," 

The symbolic wedding gown has been designed by Vivienne Westwood with remarkable words like "noble", "free" and "tumultuous". 

The bride cut the cake alone outside the prison and said, “I am very happy and very sad. I love Julian with all my heart, and I wish he were here,” 

Before the wedding, she said that she would go “through the gates of the most oppressive high-security prison” in Britain to marry “the love of my life.” 

The bride criticized the govt for not allowing a photographer because of the security risk. 

After being accused of releasing vast troves of confidential US military records and diplomatic cables, Julian Assange denied any wrongdoing and claimed that he was performing his duty as a journalist.
