One of the most obvious careers that usually comes to the mind of people thinking about crimes would be the profession of a police officer. This is a highly respected field and does not require as much training and schooling as other fields may. Applicants will need to be tested in several ways before being offered a position. There is a more dire need for qualified police officers in some more urban and populated areas. As a result, there may be a little more competition than a small town looking to hire police officers.
A drug policy consultant is required to do several things depending on their area of concentration. Some of these advisors need to spot trends and offenses over a period of time and then weigh this information against the rest of the information the person needs to research. In some cases, this may include the number of deaths resulting from the drug and the number of violent crimes that have occurred in an area involving the drug as a stimulant to the crime. Sometimes the drug does not result in any negative effects. Still, in other cases, policies need to be implemented to impose restrictions for the public good and the welfare of the citizens.
Other productive careers include crime intelligence analysts, advocates on behalf of the consumer, leaders of private crime prevention, and individuals who are making reforms. Many of these careers require different and specific levels of schooling before the individual candidate is seen as qualified for the job. The cost of education depends on where a person attends school to get their education and the amount of time they need at their university.
Careers in criminology are open to individuals within the United States and are actually located in various regions around the world. Different laws have been established by different governments, so not all individuals qualified to work in criminology within the United States may do so in other world regions. Nevertheless, qualified individuals in different fields can broaden their search options and range by looking at careers outside their geographic location.
