Some important Maritime legal Legislation and regulations were enforced due to these deadly blunders. 

1. RMS Titanic Collision on the Maiden Voyage and Enforcement of Safety Regulations: 

We are all familiar with the story of the Titanic, the unsinkable ship that famously collided with an iceberg on her maiden voyage. At the time, safety measures on board ships were minimal, and passenger and crew safety was not taken seriously. Additionally, no established safety equipment designs were recognized by authorities. 

The tragic events of the Titanic and other oceanic accidents prompted the creation of the International Regulation for the Safety of Life at Sea in 1914. Safety regulation is a testament to the International Shipping Community's commitment to addressing shipping safety and preventing accidents at Sea. 

The International Convention on safety regulation arose from the London meeting held in 1913. The essential objective of safety regulation was to lay out worldwide principles for developing Ship Construction, redesigning equipment, and introducing safe procedures for Vessel routine activities while she is sailing out at Sea or remaining in Anchorage or the harbor. 

Thirteen nations, including the United Kingdom, the US, Germany, France, and Italy, formally adopted safety regulations on January 20, 1914. Over time, these regulations have undergone numerous revisions and updates to keep pace with technological advancements and increasing safety concerns. 

Since its initiation, these safety regulations have contributed to upgrading, promoting, and enforcing Maritime Safety across the globe. Its thorough and developing arrangements have prompted a noteworthy decrease in Shipping Accidents and loss of life at Sea. 

2. The Torrey Canyon Collision and MARPOL Convention: 

The Torrey Canyon mishap happened on March 18, 1967, when the supertanker steered and collided with the rocks off the shore of Cornwall, Britain. The vessel, containing 119,000 tons of unrefined petroleum, fell apart and released a vast, thick oil slick into the Sea. The episode caused broad natural harm, causing severe damage to marine life and polluting beaches, shorelines, and coastlines.

The Philippine-enlisted traveler ship MV Dona Paz was on its way from Tacloban to Manila when it slammed into the oil big hauler MT Vector in Tabla's Waterway. The Amoco Cadiz incident was a turning point for the shipping industry, leading to the introduction of stricter regulations by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The IMO responded to this and other oil spills by introducing the Convention on the Carriage of Hazardous and Noxious Substances by Sea (CLC) in 1969. Under the CLC, shipowners are responsible for oil contamination, and a compensation program is established to assist those affected by oil spills. These guidelines plan to consider shipowners accountable for their activities and offer monetary support to help the victims who have suffered from such fiascos' ecological and financial effects. 

6. The Herald of Free Endeavor Disaster (1987): 

The Herald of Free Endeavor was a roll-on, roll-off ship that capsized in the mouth of the port of Zeebrugge, Belgium, in 1987, losing 193 lives. This catastrophe was urgent in molding the IMO's emphasis on passenger safety. The IMO amended the safety regulations Convention, especially for passenger vessel safety.
