What are the causes, Symptoms and treatments of Depression

Depression is a complex set of psychological and physical symptoms. Depression or sadness is often the most obvious symptom. A common feature of these symptoms is a decrease in the level of activity in certain parts of the brain.

SYMPTOMS

  • Low level of emotions or sadness.
  • Lack of happiness or interest in activities that were previously fun.
  • Lain.
  • Feeling guilty about something without a good reason to feel that way.
  • The thoughts of emptiness.
  • Reased.
  • Lack of thinking process.
  • Lack of interpreting senses.
  • A slow digestion of food or other internal body processes, and symptoms caused by this slow movement, for example swollen stomach, constipation or difficulty urinating.
  • A slow body reaction.

Depression can be a mild illness that not only causes a certain amount of frustration in everyday life, but it can also worsen and make a person completely inactive and unable to participate in public life. With some depression, there is also a high risk of suicide.

Depression can occur in all classes of age. For children who lack interest in schoolwork, withdrawal from social life and difficult situations may be symptoms of depression.

HEALTH CHANGES FROM SYMPTOMS

With depression there is a decrease in the number of neurotransmitters in parts of the central nervous system, especially serotonin deficiency, but also with a certain increase in noradrenaline, acetylcholine, dopamine or gamma-amino-butyric acid (GABA), or nerve cells lacking. Reacts appropriately to stimulation of neurotransmitters. A neurotransmitter is a signal that transmits nerve signals through a combination of two nerve cells.

Serotonin and noradrenaline activate nerve cells to send impulses to other nerve cells, thereby increasing brain activity. Lack of these substances causes slowing down in parts of the brain, and that in turn causes symptoms of depression.

The role of GABA is negative, that is, to reduce certain emotional states, especially those that cause anxiety and panic reactions. Lack of GABA causes high anxiety and easy response to panic. However, the lack of this sender seems to cause symptoms of depression. This is because very high activity in some brain processes may delay other processes.

TYPES OF PRESSURE

Depression is often subdivided into subtypes according to the symptoms shown.

  •  Mono-polar depression and dysthymia disorder

With mono-polar stress there are pure symptoms of depression. Mild conditions of mono-polar disorder that do not affect a person's ability to work and participate in community activities are often referred to as dysthymia disorder.

  • Bipolar disorder (manic-depressive disease) and cyclothymic disorder

In this case there are periods with symptoms of depression - a stage of depression, alternatives and periods of increased mood and increased mental and physical activity - a manic phase. In the manic phase, the affected person does not sleep well and has difficulty concentrating.  A minor form of the disease is called cyclothymic disorder.

  •  Mental disorders

This condition is characterized by abnormal height, unreasonable optimism, poor sleep patterns, and abnormal behavior. Many psychiatrists think that the disorder is simply the same as the disorder of bipolar disorder, in which a depressed face has not yet appeared.

 Physical symptoms

Sometimes the physical symptoms of depression are solitary or intense, for example: Digestive problems, constipation, difficulty urinating, slow reaction to stimuli or slow body reaction.

CAUSES OF DEPRESSION

Two or more factors can be involved at the same time to cause depression. Depression can be an autoimmune disease, or part of another disease. Depression is also divided into subtypes according to cause.

  • Active stress

The condition is simply the result of stress, physical or mental stress without proper rest or prolonged sleep. Pressure will simply wear away the nervous system or detoxify the structures needed for the nervous system to function properly.

  • Chronic stress

If there has never been a period of depression, stress or lack of rest that can explain the condition, this condition is often referred to as chronic stress. Inheritance is thought to be part of the cause.

  • .Depression due to physical illness

Depression or depressive symptoms may be a symptom of a physical ailment. This is probably the most common cause of depression. There are usually three stages of dementia:

Common diseases associated with depression are: Heart disease, Parkinson's disease, stroke, high blood pressure or Cushing’s syndrome.

Mononucleosis or the flu may cause ongoing depression after the infection has passed.

With a deficiency of thyroid hormones, hypothyroidism, metabolism throughout the body decreases, which involves the production of neurotransmitters in the brain. Depression is therefore an important symptom of hypothyroidism.

  • Symptoms of depression due to an unhealthy lifestyle

An irregular lifestyle with very little exercise, too many stimulants such as alcohol, coffee or tea, too little nutrients and too much sugar and fat can cause symptoms of depression, as well as physical problems.

  •  Postpartum depression

Women often experience postpartum depression during pregnancy and childbirth Pregnancy and sleep are physically and psychologically stressful, and may take the whole body out for nutrition. This can also cause symptoms of depression

 Seasonal affective disorder

Depression can occur in the cold and dark seasons of the year and goes away in the warm and light seasons. Light stimulates brain function, and a lack of light is the cause.

TREATMENT OF DEPRESSION

Severe or chronic depression is often treated with anti-depressant medication. Medications used to combat depression often increase the level of neurotransmitters such as serotonin in the central nervous system, or mimic neurotransmitters.

The most widely used drugs today increase serotonin levels by reducing serotonin secretion in the area around nerve cells. Examples of these drugs are: Fluoxetine (Prozac), fluvoxamine (Luvox), paroxetine (Paxil), escitalopram (Lexapro, Celexa), sentraline (zoloft).

With bipolar disorder in the face of insanity, heavy tranquilizers (neuroleptics) are used to stop the symptoms of insanity. With bipolar disorder, lithium salt is sometimes used to stabilize the condition, and prevent new outbreaks of depressed or insane face.

Psychotherapy is sometimes used for depression, often in combination with medication.

Sometimes severe depression is treated with electroconvulsive therapy, electroconvulsive therapy. Shock causes epileptic seizures in the brain and this provides cramps throughout the body. The cramps are reduced or stopped by sensors before the electroshock vibration. This type of treatment is controversial, as it can cause memory loss and is suspected of causing brain damage. The chances of brain damage however are rejected by many psychiatrists.

With seasonal stress, simple treatment may be helpful.

Lifestyle adjustments should always be considered for depression or depressive symptoms. Lifestyles are sometimes not enough to treat the symptoms of depression before serious depression develops. Lifestyle adjustments can be:

  • Reduce stressful life with too much work or activities
  • Adequate rest and sleep
  • Healthy food with enough nutrients
  • Some exercise
  • Meditation
  • Addition of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, lecithin, amino acids and essential oils

Stimulants such as coffee or tea can help fight feelings of depression in moderation. However, if you are a heavy user of these stimulants, you should limit your use.

There are dietary products labeled to help fight the symptoms of depression. These contain ingredients that the brain uses as building blocks for neurotransmitters, for example amino acids and lecithin. And they often contain vitamins and minerals that the brain uses as tools to produce neurotransmitters, especially vitamin B6.

Supplements may also contain extracts from herbs that trigger high brain activity, such as antidepressants, but they may have fewer side effects.
