What are the best hacking films of all time

I started my list of the best hacking films of all time because it’s true that these movies really showed the world the difference between security and hacking and the power of people to find out what was going on. If you want to watch them then this article is for you, if you want some more movies like Star Wars or Terminator then here are the top ten best hacker movies ever made. The first thing you want to see is 2001: A Space Odyssey, when there wasn’t much else happening in Hollywood then. What was created by Steven Spielberg was an animated feature film and although this never came to be seen on movie screens it still had a huge impact and legacy. It gave us the backstory of Christopher Columbus and how he became famous for discovering America. This movie also introduced us to a lot of new techniques to security and hacking which we still use today and I love it!

To start off the list I’m going to talk about the year where cybercrime became so rife that even mainstream media organizations like CNN were reporting that, “The United States has been invaded by hackers armed with sophisticated weapons, including computer viruses and malware”. The reality behind this statement is pretty real but I guess they’d rather not mention it because they don’t want their audience to know. In 2003 Microsoft revealed the name of a software program called EternalBlue which allowed hackers to infiltrate corporate networks as well as governments. When I saw this news I thought to myself that it would be interesting to take this one step further as far as I could and discuss cybersecurity through the lens of science fiction by building one of our own using simple 3D-printed hardware from scratch called Neutrino.

The second best hack movie has to be 1998's WALL-E written by Andrew Stanton. This film is set in a future where the Earth is filled with radiation from humans having to live on it so to keep themselves alive and running they have to explore other planets and even space itself. They have only 1 method to escape from radiation however; they must travel to the stars that would be completely uninhabitable if everyone wasn't already trying to find life there. This movie is extremely clever in regards to its plot and themes, even though many people didn’t enjoy this film during the 2000 era it was still very entertaining and was a great movie to make as it was based off something really cool. Next on my list I’m going to go over the story of Alan Cooper who is an ex-cop who becomes caught up in a conspiracy against the American government to steal information that will lead to an end to the Vietnam War. He ends up working with his brother Phil who is a journalist from Boston who he gets into business with as well. Although this movie mainly revolves around espionage and spying and the main villain was Bob Hansen and his wife Sarah who he uses to kill people with poison. The themes of this film would relate to modern day surveillance and hacking and I would say it is one of the most important movies on TV right now since it portrays spies, crime, terrorism, and war.

The next thing on my list is Black Hawk Down directed by Clint Eastwood in 1999. This film is a classic thriller featuring Bruce Willis playing a man who decides to go to a certain country for help in the form of anti-terrorist missions. These trips take him across various countries, to different countries and even into private citizens’ houses of different nations. After being captured he soon realizes that none of the governments that he had worked with are as corrupt as the United States Government, especially after learning how they are willing to compromise security. This film is definitely a masterpiece and is a must see if you're looking for a fun suspense filled adventure with lots of tension, action, espionage and comedy.

Lastly is 2001: A Space Odyssey directed by Steven Spielberg. This is actually part three of a trilogy and has a sequel as well as a prequel that were released two years after and I found it incredibly impressive, I think it's one of the greatest movies ever made that changed cinema forever. It features Tom Cruise playing James T. Kirk/Sulu while Robert Patrick plays Chekov. James plays Captain Sulu and Chekov plays Arishem Idris. The themes of this film were war and warfare and when the war ended the space station orbiting earth was destroyed by an explosion, that killed almost everyone on board except Kirk. It was also at times funny when things got weird. For example, when Han Solo goes into orbit during Star Trek's piloting process then when Spock comes back on board he finds himself surrounded by dead aliens. Even when Jocko Lolly dies the fact that she knew who he was and had known him for quite a long time, and that he was her brother means that the ending is somewhat shocking. However, I think this film really turned my opinion about filmmaking in general and gave it a positive outlook and inspired me to study it further in college and learn about history.

To conclude there are plenty of awesome movies out there which I highly recommend watching to anyone with a cinema system or DVD player. If you can get one then watch any of the best movies ever made without spending hundreds of dollars on a Blu ray box. Don't let the small budget fool you.
