what are the benefits of growing indoor plants?

Everyone loves plants and enjoys seeing them grow and bloom; since humans are the ones who brought life into the world, it makes us feel like gods! My mother was the first person in my life to introduce to me indoor gardening, since she was so passionate about it. I will always be grateful to my mother, who is the only reason I discovered the joy of indoor gardening and caring for them.

I wonder now how having small indoor plants will help us; let's look at some of those advantages.

1. Air Purification
Plants create chemical energy to fuel their growth, using photosynthesis, a system that uses carbon dioxide and water to make glucose. In the process, they also produce oxygen. In short, plants “breathe” the opposite of how humans do. They take carbon dioxide in and release oxygen out. When you grow plants in your home, this process causes them to act as natural air purifiers. Many plants can also help filter airborne toxins, dust, and germs. These air-filtering plants include English ivy, snake plants, spider plants, and chrysanthemums.

2. Control the Weather

A major perk of growing your garden indoors is that you control the weather. There will be no sudden cold snaps, violent winds, or overly hot days to cause your plants distress. Growing your plants indoors prevents harsh weather from damaging their delicate leaves. This is especially true if you live in an area with extreme weather, like snowstorms or scorchers.

3. It's an Educational Tool
Taking care of plants can be a lot of work. Gardeners need to water their plants, ensure they get the right amount of sunlight, and adjust the environment as necessary. Letting your kids help grow an indoor garden can be a great hands-on way to teach them about responsibility. It also teaches caring for a living thing and creating a routine. Additionally, it can be an excellent tool to teach kids about plant biology, life cycles, and sustainable farming. There are many gardening kits specifically designed for kids to make the learning experience even more engaging.

4. Plant Therapy
Did you know that plants love it when you sing and speak to them? Well, they do – and they’ll reward you with better growth as thanks. They’re also good for your mental health. They add a little extra life to the home, which isn’t too demanding (well, depending on the plants you choose!) while fostering a sense of compassion in you.
Studies have shown that taking care of plants can be therapeutic for you. Some doctors even prescribe gardening for their patient's mental health, thanks to their ability to help reduce stress and anxiety.

5. Save Money
When you grow your food, you save money, especially if you start your indoor plants from seeds. If you maintain the plants well, they’ll provide you with fruits and vegetables, saving on your grocery bill.

6. Improved Sleep
Interestingly enough, certain plants can help improve your sleep. They do so by releasing oxygen at night, which boosts your sleep by loads. So, keep orchids, bromeliads, succulents, and other night-oxygen-releasing plants near the bedside.

There are so many benefits to indoor gardening, whatever kinds of plants you choose to grow. Herbs for tastier, fresh meals, veggies for savings and better health, or flowers and succulents for a happier home. Just be sure to provide your plants with the care they need, and the equipment that helps them grow strong, and you’ll find you have a better life with those gorgeous indoor plants.
