Although almonds contain a lot of fat, it is unsaturated fat. The danger of low density lip protein, or "bad," cholesterol is not increased by this kind of fat.

The American Heart Association Trusted Source (AHA) states that unsaturated fats can raise blood cholesterol levels when consumed in moderation.

An investigation According to a 2005 Trusted Source, eating almonds may: raise the plasma and red blood cell levels of vitamin E. reduce total cholesterol levels These researchers found that vitamin E functions as an antioxidant and can aid in halting the oxidation process that clogs arteries with cholesterol.

2. Almonds and cancer risk.

Nut consumption and cancer risk were examined in a 2015 study. The researchers found that people who ate more peanuts, walnuts, and almonds than those who did not had a two to three times lower risk of breast cancer. Almonds, walnuts, and peanuts appear to be a protective factor for the development of breast cancer, they found.

3. Almonds and heart disease.

Almonds and other nuts and seeds have the potential to lower blood fat, or lipid, levels. Heart health may benefit from this. Researchers discovered in a 2014 study that eating almonds considerably improved circulation flow, lowered blood pressure, and raised blood levels of antioxidants. All of the participants were healthy guys between the ages of 20 and 70, and they consumed 50 g of almonds daily for four weeks.

4. Almonds and vitamin E

The amount of vitamin E included in one ounce (28.4 g) of plain almonds is 7.27 mg, or about half of what an individual needs each day. Antioxidants such as vitamin E aid in shielding the body from ox dative damage. An accumulation of too many free radicals may cause this harm.

5. Almonds and blood sugar.

Almonds have been shown to have some potential to help control blood sugar levels. The magnesium levels of many type 2 diabetics are low. Deficiencies are frequently seen in those who struggle to control their blood sugar levels. Researchers have hypothesized that insulin resistance and magnesium insufficiency might be related. Twenty type 2 diabetics participated in a 2011 study where they consumed 60 g of almonds daily for 12 weeks.

6. Almonds boost bone health.

The minerals calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper, vitamin K, zinc, protein, and manganese found in almonds all support healthy bones. Almonds from Trusted Source are a suggested source of these nutrients by experts.
