Articles
There are three articles (A, An, & The). Articles are of two kinds one is a DEFINITE ARTICLE, and the other is an INDEFINITE article.
Here ( a, an ) goes under the definite article and (the) goes under the INDEFINITE article.

Usage of a, an :
a, an are singular countable nouns. an is used before vowel sounded words while a is used before consonant sounded words. here I gave you a tip to found the given the word is countable or uncountable. ( countable words always have plurals, for example, 'star -stars.' While uncountable words don't have plurals in many cases, like sand has no plurals word.)
Here I have given you some examples. First of all, you have to try on your own to answer the question, after that check your answer then you will get practice and though that you can know your capacity in English.
Example 1:
All the world is a.....stage. To answer this question, you have to know that stage is singular or plural and countable or uncountable. Here 'stage' is singular and countable,, so the answer is "A" ( because that word is sounded like a consonant and it is singular and countable )
Example2:
I saw.....(orphan) lying on the road. Here the word orphan is a consonant sound, singular and countable, so the answer is "A."
"an" is used before 'he silent words:
an is used before h silent words, for example
He is "an" (honest) person. Here the word honest starts with the consonant word 'he, but here, h becomes a silent word, and we have to pronounce that word with a vowel sound.

The only five 'silent words in English are: honest, honorable, hour, heir, and heiress.
Important checks and tips while filling in the blanks of articles:
Sometimes vowels give the sound like (yu, VA). In this case,, you have to use "A" in the place of "AN." Examples: ....European,...One rupee coin, .....union leader, .....university ranker, .....unique. all these words are started with the vowel 'U' but sound like consonants; here you have to use 'A' before that word.
And sometimes consonants give the sound like vowels. In these cases,, in the place of 'A,' we have to use 'AN.' ( h, l, m, n, r, s )
Examples:
1. An H.M.T watch 2. An H.P gas 3. An L.L.B student. 4. An L board 5. An M.L.A 6. An M.P 7. An N.R.I 8. An R.D.O 9. An R.M.P doctor 10. An S.I.
Before nouns at the time of comparisons:
There are 2 types of comparisons before nouns. They are 1. Comparisons in general form 2. Comparisons in a particular form. While comparisons In the general form,,, we have to use (a, an). And if the comparisons are in a particular form, we have to use the article 'the.'
Examples:
1. He is "a" shake sphere in English. ( general comparison.)
2. He is "the" shake sphere of Bharath competitive college. ( particular comparison. )
Note: the is used before mountains, places, rivers, oceans, and cities, And the is particularly used before uncountable nouns.
