What are telescopes and a buyers guide.

Telescopes act as windows to the universe, through which one can explore places that many don't know existed. With the help of a telescope, we can study the solar system and see the combination of stars. Not only this, the various planets, galaxies, satellites, and asteroids that we get to see only in books and magazines make us more familiar through telescopes. They act as barrier breakers between man and outer space. The universe is no longer a mystery to us that exists beyond our reach, and we are all indebted to telescopes.

Modern-day telescopes bring with them a wide array of accessories, and these accessories make it very easy to successfully put binoculars into proper use. Let's take a look at what are the important accessories that go well and are "must-haves" for most binocular users:-

Filters

These are very essential for telescope users as they reduce glare at the eyepiece and scatter light, making it less difficult for us to see distant objects.

Eyepiece

This is a very important piece of equipment, and its absence can render a telescope useless. Eyepieces come in a variety of sizes and if you add more than one eyepiece to your binoculars you can enjoy seeing even the smallest and distant objects with clarity.

Mounts

Mounts are stands for telescopes. This is the amount on which the telescope rests. Since a telescope will not function optimally in vibration, however, you should make sure it is mounted on a stable mount.

Barlow lens

Barlow lens helps in the magnification of the telescope. These lenses are available in different sizes, and we must be careful in choosing the most suitable size for the eyepiece.

There are two main types of telescopes, the refractor (Galileo) telescope, and the reflector (Newton) telescope. Refractive binoculars use an objective lens that bends the light towards the eyepiece. Whereas, the reflector telescope uses a mirror, which collects the light and then directs it towards the eyepiece.

Although both refractor and reflector telescopes are easily available in the market, before buying a telescope, we should keep the following things in mind.

Don't be affected by the magnification of binoculars. This is because magnification is of no use if it only produces large but blurry images.

Aperture

This is the most important factor when deciding on a telescope. The aperture is the opening that collects light, so it is important to choose a telescope with a large aperture that will ensure clearer and more detailed image quality.

Resolution

This enables telescopes to produce a more detailed image. Therefore, always choose such a telescope, which has a high resolution. Also, since the resolution is also determined by aperture, the larger the aperture, the better the resolution.

Focal Length

The distance between the optical center of the lens or mirror and the optical center of the eyepiece is known as the focal length. Focal length is what determines magnification in binoculars. A larger focal length indicates greater magnification.

If we take care in remembering the above points then next time we want to buy binoculars for ourselves then it will not take us long to choose it
