WHAT ARE SOME MEDICAL TECHNIQUES THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW?

BREATHING DIFFICULTY

If a child is facing difficulty breathing, you must touch quickly and gently (pat) on the back. Then press 5 times against their chest. Repeat these actions until the child is taken to the hospital.

For an adult, pat 5 times on his/ her back and then start pressing 5 times against their stomach, holding them from behind. Continue these actions until he feels comfortable breathing and immediately takes him to the hospital to avoid later complications.

PAPER CUTS

Paper cuts are so painful since the paper fibers can easily cut the skin portion between our fingers. The worst case is, most of these particles remain in the wounded portions of our skin which stimulates the pain receptors and further causes pain. This paper cuts rarely bleed, but new irritants finally end up in the formation of the wound.

Paper cuts must be initially cleaned with warm water using soap. Then, dry the portion using a clean towel and finally apply anti-bacterial cream to avoid infection. It is better to use plaster to further protect the cut from dirt. If the cat doesn’t heal, then consulting a doctor would be a better option.

STABBING PAIN WHILE RUNNING

Many people experience stabbing pain along their body sides while running, jogging, or any sort of heavy exercise. I have experienced such pain during my Zumba workouts. The main reason behind this stabbing pain is the lack of warm-up exercises, which have to be compulsorily done before performing heavy exercises. When our body experiences sudden strain, blood flows into our abdominal organs and fills them.

Thus, we experience pain on our right side (liver), and sometimes we feel left side pain (spleen). Hence, experts recommend a good set of warm-up exercises before running. Sometimes, heavy consumption of food before workouts can also be the reason for body pain. This is because the volume of the stomach increases while we consume food, and hence the blood vessels in the liver expand and are filled with blood. It is better to consume food 2 hours before an exercise.

FIRST AID IN THE WILD

During trips, if you have found a tick or any insect in your body, never remove it immediately. The process has to be approached with proper care and attention. It’s better to have vegetable oil while traveling to forest-prone areas. Initially, make a loop using thread over the head and body portions of the tick.

Slowly, move the thread upwards and then remove the tick. Some ticks stick to your body surface strongly, and in such cases, apply vegetable oil over the tick, and following the threading technique helps. However, to check whether the tick is poisonous, preserve it safely and ensure to take it alive to some nearest lab within 2 days after removal.

BEE BITES

If you have been bitten by a bee, stingers seen on your body are left only by the bee. But, when you are bitten by a wasp, it is a waste of time if you are trying to find out the stinger since wasps never leave it. But some people dig out into the wound to find out the stinger and end up causing an infection. The stinger left can be easily removed by using an ordinary plastic card.

It must be placed at a 45-degree angle just in front of the stinger and pressed a little towards the skin. Then the wounded area should be treated with an anti-septic product. It is better to have the following products while moving into the wild: sterile bandages, pain killers, repellant, plasters, anti-septic products, vegetable oil, thread, knife, rope, tourniquet, materials for treating burns, and activated charcoal.
