What Are Some Disadvantages If Your Business Doesn't Show On Google?

The world of the internet today cannot be separated from the Google site, almost everyone who deals with the internet is usually associated with this site, whether it's for purposes of just looking for information, health, culinary even for business purposes.

Google once said about the disadvantages that a business can face if their business does not appear on Google. Apart from being less well known to the public. Business credibility can also be doubted which makes potential consumers feel hesitant to buy goods or services.

This especially affects Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) which play a large role in the Indonesian economy. "This sector absorbs almost 97 percent of the workforce," said Jason Tedjasukmana.

Jason explained that the visibility of SMEs on Google is important because according to research conducted by Google, 82 percent of people search for information about their business through Google.

Therefore, to help small and medium businesses, Google also offers free services in the form of Google My Business (GMB) or Google My Business. From there, the registered business name can appear in

Google search and Google Maps. Owners can complete their profiles, add photos, and even interact through reviews.

"So if you search for (business name) in the search bar, business nearby, it often appears. It's one of the most used Google searches," said Jason. "So it's quite powerful."

Businesses are advised to improve their appearance on Google. Because research that has been done by Google reports that businesses that have detailed and more complete information online will be twice as trusted by potential consumers.

"More complete business information online can increase consumer interest in buying the products or services offered by as much as 29 percent, so back to credibility, the complete and actual information is very important, this will give consumers confidence that this is a serious business. ," explained Jason.

Since 2015, Google has trained as many as 1 million SMEs, and Google plans to double that number by 2020. Google is also actively traveling around Indonesia looking for potential SMEs. Jason also believes that technology can be a meeting point between businesses and consumers, and he hopes that through Google's free service, more and more businesses will become technology literate.

Jason also revealed some examples of SMEs in several cities that are increasingly existing thanks to the free Google My Business program.

Namely Zangrandi, an ice cream shop in Surabaya, which has been around since the 1930s. The business is still known by young people. One of them is because his photos often appear on Google My Business.

"Many millennials now want to take pictures of infamous places like Zangrandi," explains Jason. Zangrandi's income also increased by 10-15 percent and young people who found the cool photo became curious to visit the place.

There is also a Coffee Clinic business which is located in a location that is difficult to find. Google My Business can provide easy access for consumers by displaying the location of the Coffee Clinic's business location via Google Maps.

Jason said that Indonesia became one of the focuses of attention for this Google Business feature because the number of SMEs reached 50 million. Google also encourages small and medium-sized businesses not to hesitate to use technology to support their businesses.
