Health Appendix - what is it?
So what is a health supplement? A health supplement is a term that refers to products made from one or more nutrients, for example vitamins or minerals and that are very beneficial to our health. It gives you something specific (or a combination) of vitamins, minerals, herbs, botanicals, amino acids, metabolites, etc. Our health depends on the proper reception of these nutrients and when food does not work, it is a form of health. Supplement or supplements may be the answer.
Health Supplements - vitamins.
Many health supplements provide a variety of vitamins. For example, vitamin A, vitamin D, and vitamin E. vitamin A plays a vital role in the detection, growth of bones, reproduction and cell division, and cell division. Vitamin D maintains normal blood levels of calcium and phosphorus, which helps build and maintain strong bones. Vitamin E is a potent biological antioxidant, which plays a key role in preventing cell damage that may contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease.
Health Supplements - minerals.
Healthy ingredients also provide us with a variety of minerals. Minerals play a role, such as helping your body utilize the energy of food. For example, an iron supplement gives your body iron, which is an important component of proteins involved in oxygen transport and metabolism. The calcium supplement gives us calcium, which is very important for nerve conduction, heart rate control, blood pressure, and building and maintaining healthy bones.
Dietary supplements are used worldwide and represent a broad category of edible products that are separated from conventional foods and drugs. In the United States, dietary supplements are defined as products (other than tobacco) that are intended to supplement the diet containing at least one of the following ingredients: vitamins, minerals, herbs or botanical (including herbal extracts or botanicals), amino acids, metabolite, any combination of them. In short, products like multivitamins, garlic pills, fish oil pills, probiotics, natural weight loss supplements, and certain types of energy drinks are examples of dietary supplements.
In the United States, dietary supplements should be labeled as such and should be intended for oral administration only, be it pills, pills, powders, or liquids. Additionally, dietary supplements should not include chemical compounds that are approved as drugs or licensed as biologics, unless the compound has been marketed as a food or food supplement. Supplements are often sold as well as common medicines found in grocery stores. Although dietary supplements are not intended to treat, cure, reduce, or prevent any disease, most consumers tend to view them as a substitute for conventional medicine.
More than 50 percent of US people use some form of dietary supplement regularly. A study of the use of additives in some countries shows that between 40 and 60 percent of Asian respondents use food additives, and about 30 percent of consumers in Europe and Latin America report frequent use of these products.
