Cockroaches are highly resilient creatures in the world. They even survived the extinction that wiped out dinosaurs.

What may not be as widely known is the fact that cockroaches are a very interesting pest that exhibits some very odd behavior and survival tactics. For example, cockroaches spend 75% of their time resting and can withstand temperatures as cold as 32 degrees Fahrenheit!
Cockroaches don't die easily because they have a strong and flexible exoskeleton. It helps them withstand weights which are up to 200 to 800 times their own body weight.
In addition, cockroaches can live without food for a month and a week without water. Cockroaches can even hold their breath for around 45 minutes in water and can survive without a head for a week. They also have tiny holes on their bodies which help them breathe, thus preventing them from dying instantly.
A cockroach has mini brains called ganglia along its body controlling its basic body, movements. Also, it respires through tiny holes called spiracles along its body. Thus, it doesn't need its head.
In addition to this, since a cockroach has low blood pressure, it prevents rapid blood loss. It eventually starves to death without a mouth or due to bacterial or fungal attacks.

While this may seem like an impressive athletic ability, that they can spread germs and bacteria throughout a home very quickly.
