If you type the phrase "cleaning tips" into search engines, you'll get something like 14,800,000 sites to choose from, and many of those sites will redirect you to dozens of other sites.
There are specific sites dedicated to providing advice, counsel and tips on various topics that seem to have no vested interest.
Many of these tips are helpful. However, many cleaning companies have a cleaning tips page on their website.
I would say that many of them are of no use to both the visitor and the company.
Why do they do that? Do you want to attract more visitors to your site? Want to get more customers?
The purpose of the website is to provide information to potential customers about the services and products that the company provides. Every visitor should be a potential customer.
If a visitor leaves without asking, you need to improve the website and/or the services you provide. Or you're not using the right keywords, so you're attracting people by default.
In fact, it is not your type of services that the person really wants. No matter what you do, you will always attract a certain number of these.
What you actually require is a lot of quality visitors. The best way to do this is to provide the surfer with as much quality content as you can while accurately describing your own company's products and services.
Good content will go well with the search engines and increase your profile on them, which in turn should bring quality visitors to your site. That is, improving sales.
That's the whole purpose of the site. For businesses, it is purely a marketing tool and another way to acquire customers.
So how do cleaning companies produce tons of high quality content? Many search for "FAQs", which is a perfectly legitimate way to create content while informing potential customers about things they would likely want to know about you and your products and services. So we come to "cleaning tips".
A little research showed me that more than half of the cleaning companies with visible websites have at least one cleaning tips page, and some have multiple pages divided into different categories.
Try reading them sometime. Carpet cleaning companies are the biggest users of these types of sites.
How useful are they? Some tips provided by these carpet companies are quite helpful, but general cleaning companies leave a lot to be desired.
Their cleaning tips are similar to those you might see on reality TV cleaning shows.
For example, "make a paste with baking soda and vinegar and grease your faucets; wrap with cling film and leave overnight. Scrape in the morning."
It might work, but why would anyone want to do that when two minutes using phosphoric acid with minimal effort would get much better results? Do the cleaning companies themselves use some of these tips?
You can bet your life that they do, few people. The goal is to get the job done as quickly and efficiently as possible, so for each job you choose the most effective and efficient cleaner available.
So why do they have these sites? They attract people who probably won't become customers because they're looking for ways to do it themselves.
So it can be only for the purpose of attracting any type of visitors.
There is content and content about cleaning, but very few companies are going to reveal their real methods to quickly and efficiently do something that would benefit the visitor, instead they keep the old ways of cleaning that do not resemble the modern world.
So for the web browser, I would suggest that if you are looking for cleaning tips, look elsewhere than those provided by cleaning companies, with the possible exception of carpet cleaning companies.
If you're a cleaning company looking to boost your website content, look no further than the "cleaning tips" page.
You can create better and more relevant content if you are not ready to give away your trade secrets!
